At least your’s had proper windows…
I give you the Beacon, Toryglen, Glasgow. This seems to be the only remaining image of it left to prove it actually existed.
Wow !
What was it before it was a pub ?
Nothing. Was purpose built for the new estate surrounding it in the early seventies.
John Greig (rangers captain) and Billy McNeill (Celtic captain) pulled the first pints.
By the early 90s it was mental. I used to go in occasionally around 95/96 after uni on a Friday afternoon. Plenty of punters coming in but not many looking to buy alcohol. I wouldn’t have gone anywhere near the place if I hadn’t grown up in the area.
Yorkshire chat up line. “Tha don’t sweat much for a fat lass.”
I remember this from it’ll be alright on the night when I was a kid …
Remember it well.
If any interviewee ever deserved his own TV series, it was him!
Where’s he from … ![]()
I once met someone from Strabane and said "Ah Strabane, do you remember that ‘Man From Strabane’ TV clip?
“OF COURSE I FUCKING DO, IT IS THE ONLY REASON ANYONE HAS HEARD OF THE TOWN”
I got the impression it had been mentioned before ![]()
Maybe there is a better side to Strabane
And me
