Yeah, itâs a false conflation. For sure part of your reckoning is that a significant portion of the US population are complete shits, but as is ever the case you have to work with the system as it is, and the Dems made a lot of mistakes through this election cycle.
Yes, this is the same reason that Boris and the Tories kept winning here. Itâs not the right approach to mock the people you think are being stupid! You need to find ways to improve clarity, education, transparency of media and allow people to be better informed.
Simply taking a moral standground of âwe are right and everyone should vote for us or theyâre a moronâ just wont swing people to your cause, itâll put their backs up and make them vote the other way, no matter how insane it may seem to the rest of us.

because that appeals to the very demographic that is the problem. It appeals to ignorance, narrrow mindedness, and frankly, stupidity. He plays to all the worst traits in people. The problem is the good guys arenât trying to genuinely inform, or change how they are perceived by the voters they wish to win.
Promising change is always easier than promising the status quo. Trumps team also ran a better capmpaign than the Dems. They picked their various target audiences and got their message to them.

Tbh The Harris Campaign felt vague (outside of abortion) somewhat like Labours - There wasnât clarity on what they were actually going to do, how they could improve lives, a viable vision of the future. Trump was in swing state maufacturing plants saying you wonât loose your home to China, weâll rasie tarrifs make money and bring manufacturing back, your job wonât be theatened by imigrants and a bunch of other hypeperbol. He did get Musk onside and the Joe Rogan thing probably swung a good few too.
