I’m possibly clutching at straws here, but just seen what feels like a moderately compelling argument that RFK might not get Senate approval. Essentially, he’s massively anti big pharma companies, and those companies spend a huge amount on lobbying / bribing politicians.

Which ironically is probably the only silver lining to his being in that role.
There is a train of thought that Trump is using these more off the wall appointments to test loyalty in the Senate.
Any senator that opposes them will have their card marked.
Trump can then change the appointment
Yeah. I’ve seen a lot of comments about “Trump is not playing 4D chess here, he’s not that smart, he just wants loyalists in these positions”. And I think the first part is true, but I suspect the likes of Bannon and Miller are definitely playing 4D chess and still have an awful lot of sway on these.

It must be tough as a Republican senator. Who do you side with ? The president is a capricious but only loosely-assembled bunch of personality disorders, your corporate sponsors simply expect to own you, and the voters (who are sometimes only in a hair-thin majority) want you to transport them back through time to ‘when things were better’. Any one of those can pretty much end your career.
