The worry is they have 4 years to wise up and get smart and organise a succession strategy. Could be trUmpf for a third term/indefinite trUmpf family presidency.
Are the Stephen Millers and the like that smart? They got him elected a second time so you expect they would be.
The hope is that the people he is appointing are fucking useless, and his economic proposals will benefit noone except the millionaires, so that come the next election the country will have turned against him.
I’m unsure how much is the cleverness of those behind the scenes and how much is a combination of Democrate electorate laziness (“get off you arse and vote, FFS!” should have been Kamala’s slogan) and sheer unbelievable idiocy and incomprehension on the part of the electorate generally.
Aside from people voting for Trump because they thought he had said something Harris actually said, there are a HUGE number of people who do not know that Obamacare (bad thing - get rid of it) and the Affordable Care Act are the same thing.

The apparent level of ignorance on the part of Trump supporters that seemed to come to light post election was mind blowing for me. Not just being oblivious to what the ramifications of say trade tariffs would be (although plenty in this camp too), but not even being aware he’d said he was going to use them.

Any more than we would ever have considered the vaguest possibility that it would happen again.
I wish he dug his heels in and went through with confirmation . I knew from the beginning there was no way he was getting that job, but the revelations at the hearings would have been marvellous

On a more serious note, one name I’ve seen suggested is Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Horrible person
That would be bad - doesn’t have the scandal issues of Gaetz so very little risk for Senate approval, and I suspect he would be rather more effective at getting the system to do what he wants. Also an absolute shit of a human being.
