Sad but true
In not-quite-Trump news, Marjorie Taylor Green is threatening to expose âSecret Sexual Payoffsâ by Republicans if they release Matt Gaetzâs âEthics Reportâ.
So, the person whoâs been screaming about groomers has information on Republicans and their sexual impropriety but sheâs just going hold on to it unless people stop picking on her friend for fucking an underage girl.
And this - combined with the utter ridiculousness of Trumps many, many cases all being dismissed - shows just what a totally fucked up place the US has become. Evidence of wrongdoing exists, is publicly known to exist, and itâs known who holds it, but no-one does anything about it because it might upset someone.
And Americans vote for the people who should be hung, drawn and quartered.
Dysfunctional is a kind assessment.
Land of the free, home of the brave, kingdom of stupidity.
I reckon you could concoct a reasonable conspiracy theory that MTG is an insider for the Dems, she appears to be such a liability.
Whatâs also interesting is theyâve made these threats about releasing info on Dem miscreants, and the majority of comments Iâve seen from Dems have been, âYeah, go for it; we donât want paedophiles hiding in our ranksâ. Itâs not been the threat they think it is.
Biden?
In a secret meeting held at Camp David that excluded the Afghan government, then President Trump met with Taliban leaders and negotiated the American withdrawal. He promised American troops would withdraw for certain on May first, 2021 and would release 5000 Taliban prisoners held by the Afghan government in exchange for the Taliban holding back and allowing a peaceful withdrawal.
Biden, knowing that the pullout would result in the collapse of the Afghan government and Afghanistan itself, couldnât undo what Trump did but was able to delay the departure date to August. This allowed Biden to notify the various NGOs, and other Western governments with soldiers in country, so they could decide what they would do when America pulls out. Everyone (except some of the NGOs) knew that the chances of the Afghan government surviving the American pullout was pretty much nil. The Taliban didnât exactly abide by the deal either. They allowed Al Qaeda to infiltrate the airport and attack on the day.
But be certain of this, without any consultation with the Afghan government or our western partners first, Trump surrendered Afghanistan to the Taliban.
Pass the parcel, the music stopped and Biden was left with the turd in a box.
I might have a little more sympathy for him if he wasnât enabling a genocide in Gaza.
Serious flaw in the American political system that allows individuals and companies to donate tax-deductible money to their party/candidate for reelection (or whatever).
While in office the pro-Israel legislature (âencouragedâ by pro-Israel lobbyists) passes a spending bill that supports Israel through tax-funded direct aid of (when last I checked) $5-billion-a-year. This money helps them buy the bombs/weapons from our military industrial complex, at no cost to them, and helping the MIC and itâs shareholders to greater profits thanks to the American taxpayer (who has no says on it, as their representative had their election paid for by the pro-Israel lobby, who in turn got their re-election donations sent through middle men from the $5-billion annual grant the American taxpayer pays to Israel each year).
Now, a word about the UK governmentâs talk about a special ârelationshipâ between them and the Americans (in hopes of trade deals and avoidance of the Europe-wide tariffs Trump promises), it doesnât exist with Trump.
Trump will talk with you as long as you kiss his ass and make concessions to him but donât expect anything in return. Heâll cut you off faster than shit through a goose as soon as you stop flattering him or if you ask for anything in return, regardless of what you sacrificed for him. He is not a moral person.
You are best re-joining the European Union on equal footing with just one provision, that they expel Hungary and threaten Turkey (and any other pro-Putin administrations) that they could be next.
Ukraine is in a bad place and I think entry into the European Union will weaken the EU (possibly get us further into the conflict). Trump is not only going to cut off all aid to Ukraine, he might instead provide assistance to Putin (Putin spent more on anti-Clinton propaganda in the States during Trumpâs first election campaign than he spent in the UK ensuring you would all vote for Brexit and break up the European Union). A negotiated peace is the only way I can think of to prevent that. Ukraine will loose territory, however Russia will pay for its aggression too. Every bit of the Russian assets currently held by countries must be handed over to Ukraine in full as war reparations. Ukraine can then rebuild (and rearm). The EU must then recognise what is left of Ukraine as absolutely sovereign and so can buy arms to defend its sovereignty from the EU with those war reparations.
The Tariff thing Trump isnât talking about - that revenue would largely be paid by U.S. consumers and businesses, experts say. Thatâs because tariffs are not paid by the countries that export to the U.S., as Trump maintains, but rather by U.S. importers.
In other words, companies like Walmart would be faced with the decision of whether to swallow the higher costs of imports, or passing those on to consumers, Vicky Redwood, senior economic adviser for Capital Economics, wrote in a research note.
âIf the costs are passed on, then customers face a choice: continue buying the (now more expensive) import or switch to buying a domestic alternative (which will cost more than the import pre-tariff),â she noted.
Trumpâs tariffs could cost the typical U.S. family an additional $2,600 a year due to importers and manufacturers passing the cost of tariffs to consumers, according to an August analysis from the Peterson Institute for International Economics, a nonpartisan think tank focused on economic issues.
Trump is grifting tariff exemptionsâŚ
As a wish-list, I can scarcely fault any of that. Iâm also 100% certain none of the Good Stuff will happen.
None of us on this forum is going to live long enough to see the UK rejoin Europe. Sadly. Indeed, I fully expect Nigel Farage to win a landslide in 2029.
Ukraine was Over the day the US election results came in. When Trump pulls the plug on UA, so will the rest of Western Europe; Putin will then take the rest of UA - anyone who thinks heâll respect any borders has eaten too many crayons in their lifetime. Heâs lost at least ~750,000 men, VAST amounts of equipment, and a LOT of face, and heâs had to crawl on his belly to China and DPRK! Dee-Pee-fucking-Ar-Kay!!! Asiaâs #1 backwards shithole. No way can he claim slightly expanded borders as a victory - even Russians ainât that delusional.
Thereâs going to be a great deal of Trump arse-kissing by our naiive and inexperienced Labour government, for sure. Theyâre as desperate and dogmatic about making Brexshit work as the tories, or rather - enough of them are in love with the vague notion that isolationism will help THEM cling to power in the future. Those individualsâ judgement is clouded by their egos, so they just donât see that all it actually does is create a hotbed for nationalism⌠Itâs going to be as humiliating as it is futile. All great news for Nige of courseâŚ
Not much point the EU (or any other body) threatenting Turkey - that has always been counterproductive, and the fact theyâre not members and unlikely to ever become so is not exactly irrelevant
We need to be much more concerned with the future of NATO - if theyâre not planning for Trumpâs withdrawal, then theyâre even bigger bloody fools than I take them for, some achievementâŚ
Zelensky is already planning for it, if he can join NATO now and get some level of protection a ceasefire can be bartered with Russia keeping the land they currently hold.
Worst outcomeâŚ
Trump tells (or has told) Putin heâs pulling support to Ukraine
Putin rejects all terms for a ceasefire or compromise
Trump tells NATO if they admit Ukraine the US is leaving
NATO refuse membership
Trump pulls all support for Ukraine
Russia rolls across the rest of Ukraine
Trump leaves NATO
I thought a âcountry at warâ couldnât join NATO?
Ukraine isnât at war
I believe Ukraine should ask EU (and America) to put forward a proposal to Russia, all frozen Russian assets be handed over to Ukraine as war reparations and cost of keeping Dunbar/Crimea, that Russia agrees that the rest of Ukraine is a sovereign country, able to join NATO should they wish, and they agree to a complete end to all hostilities.
If thatâs the case, it feels like it must be stretching some legal definition to absolute breaking point.
