I’ve experienced the itch for better, but not that 
Try to find NAT Audio SE1 in any of 211 variations (essentially with a tube driver). It’s a shocker and possibly the best stock amp I’ve ever heard. It can drive an armored concrete block with a DHT subtlety in sound.
Was there not someone in the old place had a Triode (?) 211 or something integrated, sold it and bought it back again a couple of times?
Could be. Always liked the look of that amp.
I think it was.
It’s a Triode TRV845SE and i’ve still got it.

If you get used to live with a top level tube amp, you can’t go to solid state. I’m currently trying that with the amp designed to emulate the best triode and globally hyped as that.
