How does it compare with the standard 10 y.o. Laphroaig?
Smoother, softer and a tad more subtle. The balance is really elegant.
Far from the usual “In-your-face” Laphroaig. But you still get the peatiness. I really like it.

I have to say, I do like Islay malts
Me too. But unlike Narelle (who loves the extreme end), I prefer my peat more subtle than most. Which is a bit strange as usually I like flavours to smack you about and announce their intentions.
However, I like my whisky to have levels of flavour rather than a single pronounced signature.
