What I'm watching (Series 2)

Looking forward to this!

finished watching it this evening.

Not overly impressed, it’s climbed up it’s own arse with how silly the story has become and it still thinks it is serious.

The Guardian seem unimpressed

Predators. Technically the 3rd Predator film if you discount the Alien v Predator crossover wank.

Total gash. Adrian Brody has to be the least believable actor… and how the fuck he has been able to make a career escapes me.

Avoid. Keep to Pred 1 and 2.

Yep pretty much nailed it perfectly.

What! You mean it’s surpassed the sillyness of the first series when blowing up London tower blocks, surely not

It did end up as a modern day Peaky Blinders with added explosives and mysterious cabals. At least S1 got shot of that fucking awful lead actor.

(I’m at the end of the third one of S2)

Buck up, it’s been out a few years now.

See my ninja edit and don’t read my spoiler until you have watched more that the first episode.
Although it won’t take a genius to work it out…

Lol, shower scene in Dallas moment.

People watched Dallas?

I used to love the intro, the 80’s shows had all the best intros, it’s a skill we have sadly lost.

Same for music.
Modern streaming has killed the long intro…
Stuff has to hit home with vocals and the beat within the first few seconds or people flip…

In college. Drink-along-Ć -Dallas.

Film intros are good though, from the star wars scrolling narrative and pan to planet, the shark taking the naked bather in Jaws, the laser scan of Ripley’s life boat to… Well maybe they used to do those better as well.

I’ve alway loved the opening scene to the original Alien

Watched the Baz Lurhmann Elvis thing last night.

Bit all over the place, looks like it’s been directed by three different people and bless him the lead as Hel and FoL pointed out, just can’t be as good looking as young Elvis.

But when we get to Vegas boy does he do a great job at recreating the intensity of his early performances - Suspicious Minds is done beautifully, bravo

Munich: The Edge of War. Another surprisingly gripping espionage thriller, this time based on the Robert Harris novel and set in 1937 as Hitler is about to take the Sudetenland effectively declaring war on the Czechs. Jeremy Irons does quite a sympathetic portrayal of Chamberlain doing his best to secure peace with Hitler at a summit in Munich. (Netflix) Recommended.

Gangs of London 2.
Ohh, followed by eh? Followed by Blankety Blank which was more intellectually satisfying.
