American Psycho, for the first time in years.

Claire’s never seen it and apparently it’s a horrible movie.

Well, er, yeah, no shit.

Best not suggest she reads the book then…

The film really needed to be a low budget affair to do the book justice.

Something along the lines of Henry Portrait Of A Serial Killer would have been perfect :ok_hand:

The film is a laugh-a-minute caper.

I recall reading American Psycho and Fight Club within the same fortnight. Both of them, devastating pieces of satire. I wished all novels could be as good.

Seeing tonight’s Peaky Blinders thumps the SAS in the pants or whatever, I’m minded of MiL’s account of Paddy Mayne’s death, where the locals in Newtownards knew fine rightly that he’d had a really bad accident and simply left him to die because he was a psychopath who would kill one of them sooner or later.

There’s a cheery thought for your Sunday night.

I have never read an account where Mayne came out in a good light, if he hadn’t been in a fighting unit at time of war he would probably have spent a large amount of time in prison. He probably wouldn’t have been tolerated in ‘standard’ regiment either.

The Banshees of Inisherin. This is a lovely film set on a small island off the west coast of Ireland in 1923 while the civil war rages on the mainland. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson star as two longstanding friends who fall out and it’s about the effect that has on them and the community they’re a part of. Funny, sad, surprising, well acted and beautifully filmed. Was pleased to see too that for a Tuesday lunchtime showing the auditorium was almost full! One of the better films I’ve seen this year. Takes a little while to get down to the pace and feel of it but once you do, it’s a treasure.

We went to see it on Saturday. I agree with everything you’ve just said. Mrs P however thought it was shit. Mrs P thinks In Bruges , Sexy Beast , The Big Lebowski , Fargo and countless other masterpieces are shit.
