What I'm watching (Series 2)

Bardo on Netflix.

Moving, beautiful, strange, self indulgent. Not sure I liked it enough to give a whole hearted recommendation. Maybe I was too tired.

Binge-watched the final 3 episodes on Friday (iplayer).

Watching it from the start on Sky Catch Up

I’ve quite enjoyed the previous offerings

I enjoyed this one too. I wondered how they would fare with adapting the (very long) novel, but they have done a decent job.

Given the plot & dialogue, I’m wondering whether to watch it aided by psilocybin

Telegraph :skull:

Not really sure what people expected from Avatar. I mean, it’s blindingly obvious that it’s utter, utter shite just from the trailers and press material. :man_shrugging:

I wanted to like the first one, but all the characterisation side of things is just awful. His progression from spy to falling in love is entirely unconvincing, and it’s basically the core plot item.

Dances with Wolves does a roughly similar plot much better. When you’re outdone in character believability by a Kevin Costner film, you know you’re in trouble.

ANY movie featuring ~biocompatible alien life where everything doesn’t immediately die from pandemics of introduced diseases which they have zero immunity to is uttermost nonsense anyway - it’s all a matter of how much you can suspend disbelief.

Like the Harry Potter series, these are kids movies, so hyper-simplistic plots and inevitable bittersweet happy-endings with a cargo of moral messages is 200% inevitable…

So did I.
It was absolute shit.
I have no intention of watching another one on the premise that it might be slightly less shit.

I sincerely doubt it’s less shit.

I am going to see Avatar 2 tomorrow with the family. I expect I will hate it so I will take consolation in the biggest bucket of popcorn I can manage and then try not to snore too loudly.
