Mean Girls.

Laughed. A lot.

Nice!

Each to their own I suppose.

Claire and I saw it on Thursday. We really enjoyed it. I liked the direction and camerawork too. I’ve been lucky enough to visit a few of the actual locations (Gottingen, Los Alamos, UC Berkeley) - Los Alamos has changed hugely but the other two are recognisable. I also heard Teller speak once - he was scarily bonkers, albeit very old.

Saw Oppenheimer today. Thought it was top class. His best since Memento.

I’m not a film buff so had no idea he did Memento which is brilliant.

I thought that Inception, Interstellar and Tenet were all better

No, hahahahahaahahah and not seen.

I think as a true story there is a weight to Oppenheimer his other work, as imaginative as it may be, does not carry.

Were all self indulgent shite.

Worth seeing, if possible without splurging imdb for spoilers.

Haven’t seen this for years

I actually think the opposite, in a way. I think that Oppenheimer tried to bring together three elements (bomb, personal life, inquests) and struggled to make any of them coherent enough. By being based on a true story, he had too much to say, and even in a 3 hour film didn’t have time to develop them fully.

Workout the constraints of the true story to get across, his imagination-based films are better, to me. Indeed Inception and Interstellar are two films well within my personal top ten, despite their significant flaws.

One of my favourite Pacino films.

Suspension of disbelief in the fantastical is often a block to complete immersion. It’s something to work against, something to overcome. I can enjoy such films immensely but mostly at puddle depth in comparison to the impact true story can have. I appreciate this is a personal view.

How the fek much did this cost to make, and why is it 2’45" long?

Kelsey Grammer, the guy from Bosch and Stanley Tucci are the bad guys.

I absolutely agree. I even managed to enjoy the recent Indiana Jones movie by setting my inner puddle to ‘extra shallow’.
