What I'm watching (Series 2)

I have a copy of The Wall that I have never played. Bought it when it first came out.

I’d hoped this immature mind melt would be an antidote to yesterdays wisdom tooth extraction. Unfortunately I’m not certain what was more painful? Note to Hawkeye:…You know you’re a C list Hero when your enemies are called ‘the tracksuit Mafia’. 6/10

Watched half of the first episode and thought it was utter arse gravy.

Watched a Netflix doc about the making of Halloween last night which was very watchable. Started watching the episode about Robocop which I had to drag myself away from.

That series is interesting, we’ve watched a few of the programmes.

Mare of Eastown. One of the very best things I’ve watched in years.

I want to finish the Robocop one, and the Alien one looks interesting. Not looked through the list of episodes fully - any you recommend?

Quite a feat for Kate Winslett to be believable in that role.

The alien one is good, I think there was a John carpenter one - we watched the thing yesterday as a result of something in that series anyway. The one with nightmare on elm street was good too

It is very very good.

I see new episodes of The Expanse on Amazon Prime but it looks like one per week, which is annoying.

I play The Beatles all the time. I’d go as far as to say they are my favourite band really.

I loved Get Back, it’s fantastic. They were much, much greater that the sum of their parts and there really is a magic to the four of them together that you get to see happen over and over as the three episodes progress. The rooftop show at the end in real-time is an absolute treat, where they bring it all together and fucking rock! Honestly, Kerri and I were bereft once it had finished. Give it a go Kev, you might well find it compelling.:+1:

Sums up in a very real way one of the biggest takeaways from the Doc, it does come over as some kind of communion. Watching four men birth ‘Hey Jude’ or ‘Let it be’ into being is astounding, almost telepathic.
I do get why people look past the Beatles, over exposed fatigue can make me indifferent too. What seems to pull me back is the quality. Quality not only of many of their songs but also in terms of development. OK, so drugs may have expanded their consciousness but to be able to translate that musically is another mark of something beyond the norm.
It’s kind of astonishing to note the contrast between ‘Help’ (1965) and ‘Revolver’ (1966) Something remarkable happened here, not just in their heads but also in the studio, literally inventing sounds. Eg: “Tomorow Never Knows” encapsulates a great deal of the then new psychedelic movement - an unstoppable juggernaut to yet another genre they aced. In my lifetime, music hasn’t accelerated at such a pace as it did when the Beatles were together. Get back solidifies so much about the Beatles, I was left thinking I don’t listen to them enough.

Yes, and that actually is but a blink of an eye before the Get Back project but in between they’d recorded Sgt Pepper’s and The White Album! I think the latter only wrapped a couple of months before the Get back sessions started and a few months later they’d recorded Abbey Road. Staggering.

Well worth an hour of your time.

I think I live a pretty secluded life but it’s nothing compared to this incredible guy.

Really very good. Great performances from all the leads.

We enjoyed that. I did start out thinking someone like Matthew McConaughey should’ve been the lead but, as it turned out, Cumberbatch did a very good job. Certainly didn’t go where you might’ve expected it to.

Heads up if you want to watch the F1, it’s on something called Sky Showcase which I think is included on a number of TV packages FoC.
