DVD is fine, shonky would be ex rental Betamax copy.
Heretic. Hugh Grant entertains 2 young Mormon women pitching at him. The analysis of religion generally is quite well done (wouldāve been interesting to see audience reaction to that aspect in the US) but the ending was perhaps a bit predictable/formulaic for what was really another madman locks young women in the cellar movie. Diverting enough though glad I didnāt bother to see it in the cinema.
Not sure thereās a more heartwarming series than Mortimer And Whitehouse Go Fishing.
Two good mates enjoying each otherās company, having a laugh and at the same time managing to inject humour into the piece.
Wonderful.
I really should make time to watch that. I suspect the fact they went with Mormons rather than Evangelicals or Baptists means thereās far less likelihood of pushback in the USA. Most Christian denominations view Mormonism as really not being Christianity at all (mind you a decent chunk of the Evangelical / Baptist lot over there would also view Catholicism as not really Christian either).
Agree, I thought the first part of it was really good, but as you say, descended into a bit meh.
Anyway, this was a really good feel-good movie, very well realised.
Catch it in the next couple of days for the appropriate vibe.
Yep, I really enjoyed it. Frustratingly, watched it with my girlfriend and her friend, neither of whom were digging it, so had to watch past their moaning that it wasnāt about anything (and didnāt contain elves or wizards). But I thought it was excellent.
Might have to try that, Iām a big fan of Paul Giamatti, particularly in Billions.
Traitors S3.
Watching this with Mrs MWS. She becomes so involved in the whole thing. To her mind she becomes part of it which is better entertainment than the show itself.
Probably true (except Utah, obvsly). I left the cinema slightly surprised it had even got made in the US, but I guess the get-out was that they put the reasonably convincing religio-sceptic arguments into the mouth of a horrific psychopath, encouraging believers to dismiss them as the words of the devil. The girls do, eventually, argue back.
I did bother and I suspect it was better for being on a bigger screen. But in the end it depends on how much bother it is. In my case it isnāt very much. Quite by coincidence Iāve just got back from my local Cineworld where I picked up a ticket for this on Sunday
It was nice to get out of the house and the 10-minute round trip walk saved me the pittance of a booking fee and put the actual paper ticket in my hand. Tomorrow night Iām planning to be at this
I havenāt been to an arty film about physicists (this oneās entirely in B&W I think) since Oppenheimer.
First episode and itās quite good so far. Not a fan of Keira Knightley and her silly toothy smile but sheās not too bad in this.
I enjoyed it.
Itās ok. Entertaining enough.
Some nice set pieces and shot quite well. Bits of the plot are a bit silly but itās watchable fun.
Just started watching that
Some joker called Maul or somethingorother posted a still from this film on X today so I just had to watch it. Again!
To be fair, his post was quite funny.
