That’s on at the cinema I own (a tiny number of) shares in, and I certainly will, but I feel I should buy the occasional local ticket too …
Mrs P claimed two free tickets for the premier of this at the local Vue on Wednesday.
The lady next to me was in full on slouch zzzzzzzzzzz
How I stayed awake I don’t know. If I was at home I’d have turned it off. Yet it was quite beautifully shot.
She was a photographer and this is like looking through her family album after she has passed away.
Lumley
A bit like Quentin Tarantino meets Rambo meets Sam Peckinpah meets the Nazis
Far, far fetched and corny as fuck ![]()
Loved it!
All the way back to Sopranos from S1E1.
I have also.been musing on rewatching that.
Never watched it, so could try that,
Always baulked at the investment required, although that never bothered me with long running series like GOT or BB which I followed from early on.
I’ve done it twice and I’d do it again.
Have them all on dvd (bit like your cassettes).
I think I’d go back and watch the one episode in the snowy forrest, funny as fuck that one.
I went to see them both. Sinners definitely better than Thunderbolts*, once I’d got used to the Mississippi delta drawl. Thunderbolts* was better than I thought it might be but I don’t feel pressed to watch a lot more Marvel.
Mission Impossible Final Reckoning.
An entertaining outing for little Tommy in his last appearance in the franchise. It opens with the story being carried by about 40 minutes of exposition as they try to get the audience to understand or care about the ludicrously convoluted situation little Tommy has got himself into.
Not sure how much the black female US President will be appreciated by MAGA types either.
There are a couple of spectacular set piece action sequences both of which end utterly implausibly but despite the nonsense you still end up rooting for Tommy and his mates to avert WW3 kicking off.
Cheery brain disengaged tosh doing exactly what cinema and a big screen are made for.
Tom saved cinema.
Again.
He’s a nice lad but he likes lizards as well.
It’s absolute dogshit. A right mess of a movie. They just randomly threw a whole bunch of stuff in that made little sense.
Don’t get me wrong, Mission Impossible movies are all about action over plot, but this was just absolute rubbish. (The aeroplane stunt sequences were amazing from a film making point of view, which is really the only saving grace)
And the exposition, don’t get me started on the exposition, they could have cut an hour of bullshit chat just removing that alone. If you need to use that much, then you’ve failed at storytelling.
The first half was pretty good fun, so how they managed to fuck this one up so badly I just don’t know. Less is more or something….

I enjoyed the escape from a 500 ft deep submarine without a wetsuit moment as well & surviving a fall from a plane after your parachute catches fire.
Actually, of more concern was how much his face puffiness changed throughout the film, how much filler he’d had put in I guess.
It was just an awful mess. Completely incoherent and very few of the jeopardy sequences contributed anything to the plot.
If I recall, it made more sense than Pt1 which was just ridiculously convoluted. I tried reading the synopsis of that one on IMDB last night & it still didn’t make any sense.
I watched part 1 again the other night and enjoyed it. Yes, it’s typical MI, not perfect, but entertaining. This was just terrible though.
Like the whole defusing the bomb stuff - just made no sense.

Or random submarine tumbling to add some jeopardy.
Or oh no, we’re going to have to nuke a city. No, we can just turn the power off (could have figured that out in the first half hour and saved a bunch of bullshit)
I can forgive plot holes, but this was just absolute dumb. Properly stupid.
Plus how many sub plots do you need?
I could go on….
Gah! Still angry about the 3 hrs I’ll never get back.
Watching “A Complete Unknown” again.
Cos Dave @octh is here and he hasn’t seen it (also it’s Bob’s 84th birthday)
