What I'm watching (Series 2)

Watched 4 episodes & rather enjoying this. I don’t think it’s to quite the same standard as The Last Kingdom and apparently the source material from 1000 years ago is patchy so some liberties are taken, but it appears to be following roughly what happened in the run up to 1066. That’s interesting because TLK ended with the rather confusing run of Saxon/Danish kings after Alfred.

It’s had mixed reviews presumably from some who took the GoT Dragon antics seriously.

Relevant in these times of flag shaggers in that they should be asked which version of Merrie Olde England they’re seeking to recreate.

Quite enjoyed this

Mainly about how fucked up the art world is that it could happen in the first place,

Hel has me watching this whilst she berates the Normans from start to finish.

If this series is anything to go by, build things out of stone rather than wood, ie castles etc.

Now on BBC2 TV

based on these first two songs this is going to be a corker, possibly the best cover of Think I’ve heard

hope they release the recording as an album

We’re plugging our way through all the 80s Joan Hickson Miss Marples currently being shown on BBC4 (?).

It’s easy comfort TV.

Tonight we’re on to Nemesis.

Beverley Knight is killing it
Where has she been? Feels like she hasn’t been around for ages.

was just thinking that, looks like she’s been doing theatre for the last 10yrs or so.

Certainly since the 90s

Season 4

Ginger AI ftw

Launched the nutters across in the 11th Century them waited until the end of the 18th to send the decent types (e.g. the Hugenots).

Got tickets for this so need to rewatch it on iplayer as it has been a long time since watching.

Lol, wind the flagshaggers up by informing them that French was the official Court language up to and beyond Henry V and that the 1st Crusade was also largely French.

And it’s extremely unlikely that Richard the Lionheart, epitome of English royalty, spoke English at all.

Watched all four episodes of Operation Darkphone last night, that was really quite fascinating, both from a police element and a technical one. I’d also entirely missed all the news headlines as the whole thing came to light in the first case as well somehow.

It’s a bit shit but not quite shit enough for me to stop watching. The fact that Netflix has little to offer in the way of alternatives right now doesn’t help. I think I need to cancel my membership and sign up to Apple for a few months.

It’s been shit since Covid ended.
