We’re enjoying it, two to go.
Finished watching The Hack which was excellent. Great acting from several participants, a gripping tale well told but with the frustration that Murdoch & the other Fleet St scum didn’t get brought into line by a Leveson 2 enquiry. It was initially scotched by the Conservatives in 2018 & Labour had committed to instigating it right up until they won in 2024 when it was dropped (presumably to keep the press sweet). Maybe alarm bells about this Labour administration should’ve been ringing loudly even then.
Visual Mogadon. Stare at the picture and you’ll instantly imagine a script better than the one Sylvester Stallone managed here. Machismo is cranked to eleven then injected with speed by an old biker called “Grunt” — that’s the territory we’re in.
Lost your cliché? Don’t worry you’ll find it here, buried under seventy-eight layers of utter foolishness. In that regard, it’s almost perfect.Subsequent napping was hard and fast. I’m conflicted on the score: on one hand we are well into minus teritory, on the other, high nines.
The Producers - Currently on BBC2
Wonderful
Ghosted. Apple TV.
Worse than I could have imagined. The first hour is awful. It’s all awful. An awful film.
Even a free three months doesn’t justify this. None of what you might be thinking makes this worth it.
Absolutely brilliantly mental. No chance a movie like that would get past a script these days never mind getting funded and a full release.
I haven’t seen it for too long. It’s fantastic.
Cillian Murphy stars in an excellent drama about the head teacher of a Reform school. Up against unruly kids, a visiting TV crew & MP, the management looking to close the place and his own demons, Steve has an interesting day.
Task (Sky Atlantic).
Grimy and bleak Fed shizzle. Highly recommended.
We have one episode of Succession to go. Yeah, we are late to the party. No spoilers, please. I have enjoyed it from start to almost finish. The stand out component for me has been the script. The assembled cast of horrible characters has kept me laughing out loud throughout.
The Tron Ares reviews reminded me to watch this again just to remind myself how better it would have been without the Jared Leto shaped turd floating in it.
The Lost Bus ( Apple).
Switched it off after a hour. Might watch the rest. Might not. It was all just a bit dull and lacking any drama.
Riff Raff on Amazon Prime. Bit underwhelming.
Was watching this yesterday
And he visited The Ernest Valve recording studio which uses vintage equipment direct to lacquer.
Heavy Trip lite
We watched this tonight!
I’ll preface this by saying I quite like a Jason Statham film, and I’m not above a bit of low end action.
But this film was utter bollocks! Over long, dreary, meandering, terrible acting, terrible writing, and a rip of to so many better films. It’s like taken and John wick, but shit.
Consolations, Commiserations, Condolences 1.5 hrs closer to death and worse off for it.
Basically this ^
