Never watched it.
Will give it a go
Are you familiar with David Lynch films Stu ?
No,as far as I know Iāve never watched one
Then I donāt know what youāll make of it tbh - Happy Days it aināt.
Season One is full-on David Lynch but he wasnāt involved with the Second Season and it was no where near as good.
However, he then decided to do a final season which is Twin Peaks: The Return and strap in for that one.
Weird! We started watching that as a family last night too.
Iām enjoying it even more this time.
Having years of watching David Lynch films behind me has helped me to appreciate all the nuances of the episodes.
Do you think he was having a very subtle joke with the mono(log)ue at the beginning of each episode ?

Just watched the first episode of Pluribus. Satisfyingly mental sci-fi/apocalyptic vibe. I was planning to not watch it until the season ends, and binge it over Xmas, but my resolve failed.
We finished Trespasses tonight. A fantastic series which somehow fitted a quite touching love story in amongst the paranoia, menace, fear & bigotry of 70ās Norān Ireland. Strongly recommended with great acting & good music throughout.
I went over there a few times for the HiFi show & visiting a dealer before the troubles came to an end. It was a weird & unnerving environment particularly encountering roadblocks with armed, edgy soldiers manning them.
Downloaded Harryās Game just now to re watch. Havenāt seen it since originally shown.
Just finished the previous series of Blue Lights.
Unusual because NI is usually watching NOW.
On which topic, this was just broadcast
David Holmes has bought the rights for a feature film.
Itās a mad story. Friends of MiL said they could hear him being tortured.
Thatās interesting. I remember being really disappointed with season 2 and giving up about halfway through. Didnāt realise he wasnāt involved, but that explains it.
Iād not heard of the third season, will check that out.
I think he was too busy with his film projects to get too involved in Season 2.
The Return is the best thing Iāve ever watched on TV - there are two particular episodes in it that are utterly extraordinary.
Iām trying to stop myself from just watching The Return without watching the rest. ![]()
I only ever watched the first series. Looking forward to watching the lot now.
Really need to watch Wild At Heart again, too.
And Mulholland Drive!
Wild At Heart is one of my favourite films - an absolute classic.
He nailed the Barry Gifford book I just wish heās filmed Parts 2 & 3 of the books as well.
I need to get The Lost Highway not seen that for ages - a real mind fuck of film.
Donāt get me started. Iām a superfan.
Seen TP several times. It got my wife into coffee!
The Straight Story is another one to watch. I have a few of the above on 4k disc and most of the rest on some sort of format.
I need to watch The Straight Story not seen it yet. Of all the films of his Iāve watched, The Elephant Man is the one I donāt want to see again - far too heartbreaking which in itself is a remarkable thing.
I worked in the same unit and he was a bit of a legend, lots of stories about the crazy stuff he got up to off the books. If half of it was true Iām amazed he lasted half the time he did.
Iāve thought about your service a few times recently.
A large proportion (I think the majority) of my year at school went into the forces and since Iāve been meeting up with old buddies recently, a lot of the potted life stories start with āArmy, x number of tours in Northern Irelandā.
Given that it was a private school you might have expected the poshos to be ārupertsā (Iāve probably got that wrong) but most seem to have gone in on the ground floor.
Wildly OT. As you were.
I went to a private school and was originally going to join as a wupert, well it was actually an engineering college called Welbeck before going on to Sandhurst.
Because I hadnāt taken my GCSEs yet the offer was dependent on a letter of reference from my headmaster and for some reason he refused to send it.
Judging by the wuperts I met in the Signals I think I had a lucky escape.
My ex brother in law ( my sisters ex ) was in the signals , maybe similar age to you. Couple tours of Ni that I can recall. Ended up at GCHQ , then NSA.
I may know him, did quite a bit of work at the donut and Menwith hill between 1990 and 2010
