Going to go and see Spiderman: Brand New Day when it comes out.
The cinemas are enjoying this summer, I think. I’ve had to book 9.30 tomorrow morning for Spiderman with the kids, and I still haven’t managed the Odyssey yet as the IMAX is booked out.
I thought that Supergirl and He-man were both decent, albeit not amazing, despite their poor box office. Minions wasn’t great though, that horse seems flogged now.

Many years late, I’ve just got to the end of Season 1 of “Altered Carbon”. Very enjoyable if a little convoluted. Looking forward to S2 which is meant to be a bit more honed.
I was thinking it felt a little bit like Neuromancer, and have just seen they’re bringing out a series of that soon, which’ll hopefully be good.
Also saw Three Body Problem (Netflix version) - also enjoyable. I’ll check out the original one now though.
The Odyssey
70mm IMAX.
Wow. I can’t recommend this enough. The only criticism of the film (nitpicking) are the shortcomings from refusing to use CGI, and the limitations that the sheer scale of the story bring to any attempt to get it on screen.
The scale, sound, acting and ending are as good as it gets. Absolutely loved it as a whole, and admire the honesty in how it ends up on screen.
Back home safely after a long day out… he wasn’t so lucky.

1980’s - Mostly abysmal people tinkering with each other. Two or three characters are not abysmal which makes you want to jump through the screen to try and save them. Compelling.

Not bad as it goes, nice mix of Luc Bessons camp and crazy with a bit of darkness.

Not sure how I missed this first time. Lawless (2012) Tom Hardy & Guy Pearce in Western about bootleggers set in prohibition era 1920’s Virginia. Half way through. Really good so far. Screenplay by Nick Cave!

Brett Easton Ellis goes full 80s flashback in rich teens swan about Beverley Hills driving great cars, wearing designer clothes and avoiding graphic murder by rampant serial killer drama. Complete with great soundtrack and lots of well shot eye candy including lovely houses, records and nepo babies making up the cast.
Very watchable.
