Bought a UHD 4K DVD player at the weekend to replace our recently dead 20 year old unit.
Testing it out with this - very impressed so far

Imagine a cut-price Tarantino and a fairly sozzled Guy Ritchie sketching out the plot for a series on a beer mat —> et voilà!
If you go into this expecting anything resembling a credible story or believable characterisation, you’ll probably get the hump. If however, you imagine Ritchie and Tarantino chucking all their cast off set pieces into one wooden hamper, you’ll set the bar to the correct limbo height
For all the panning it seems to be getting, it’s perfectly bingeable
6/10
This was on the Sky movies channels last night.

Apparently Brandon Lee’s family declined to watch it out of respect for him, everyone else should decline to watch it out of respect for their eyeballs.
That’s a shame, looked at IMDB and it’s got Danny Huston in it, really good at playing evil/nasty characters (30days of night, AHS and edge of darkness etc)
Listening really but it’s a BBC podcast series and fits better here I think. Disclosure Investigates: Killer on the Ward about Colin Norris. It’s about the case on its merits rather than any focus on the alleged murders themselves.
Staggered by the lack of evidence I’ve heard so far. Way less than what was offered at Lucy Letbys trial.
Not only did it maintain its early promise, it got better.
Even if you only have a passing interest in Led Zeppelin, this is a must watch. It’s hard to imagine now just how big they became in such a short period of time, especially for a band that eschewed single releases.
Superb.
I’ll second that, liked it a lot. The clip of them playing at the Bath blues fest was lovely. For those who know Bath it was held on the green opposite what used to be the Empire Hotel, next to the river. Opposite bank to the Bath Rugby Rec Ground.
Digger
Tom Cruise plays a Southern fossil fuels billionaire, one of whose ventures goes tits up in Greenland resulting in imminent catastrophe for Western Europe. He’s summoned by an ailing Trump- alike US President played by John Goodman.
But there’s more going on than that, although I can’t really say what as it doesn’t get revealed until almost an hour in. That aspect is pretty high concept & tricky to get your head around while being assailed by clever dialogue in various of the big set pieces. I think it could’ve been directed better. But the final reveal and last scene are strong & quite moving and do stay to the end of the credits if you’re watching it in a Cinema.
Looking forward to watching it at home a second time once it comes onto streaming platforms. Like Bugonia, there’s a lot going on.
Rather a grim watch although it did confirm that Paul was 100% more Rock & Roll than the rest of the band put together.
We watched it today. I enjoyed it , Mrs P hated it. Though she did find some funny parts.
The more I think about it, the more I like it & I’m looking forward to seeing it again on tv at home.
It is also having a bit of a dig at other worthy but ineffectual attempts to make art; films, plays etc about serious issues when those pieces of entertainment usually (& sadly) have zero impact on the issue that’s the subject. Those last moments of this film make that case very strongly.
Tell me you scanned the iPlayer page for half a second before bashing in the headline for the BBC news web site.
haha was just looking at that on the beeb website and thinking muppets
US Marshals…a Dutton spin off.
I’ll save you the bother, it’s a turd sandwich.
The Greys Anatomy of US modern western hokem.
In the Grey.
90 minutes of Guy Ritchie nonsense with some good, set piece, chase sequences & snappy dialogue.
Harmless fun.
Black Rabbit - meh. Main characters are too stupid or poorly sketched to really care about.
Legends - I really enjoyed. Coogan was pretty good I thought.
