Whiskey/whisky

Cheers. Got their An Oa last week, and really like it, so have a few of their others on the list now.

I was thinking about getting the An Oa next.

Ryes tend to be a bit more peppery & chewy, I tend to find them a bit more earthy than most Bourbons in general. I think Bulleit Bourbon may be highish in rye content & I certainly find it more earthy than Woodford Bourbon for instance. Bulleit Rye is very high Rye in mashbill content at 95% rye content.

I like both varieties of Bulleit & usually have both in, but tend to drink more of the Bourbon. The Woodford Reserve Rye is on a whole different level to the Bulleit Rye. I tend to only buy the Bulleit Rye when the price is low, usually deals come up more frequently for Bulleit Bourbon. I would say both though are fairly priced & all the money at full RRP. The Bulleit Rye is decently flavoursome & definitely worth trying.

Iā€™d say itā€™s close then for both varieties of Bulleit & will mostly come down to personal preference. The Woodford Rye on tā€™other hand is way superior to their Bourbon.

Doms @dom reco of Lot 40 Canadian rye whiskey is also well worth checking out.

Sounds like it might be more smokey/salty and less sweet than the An Oa.

I donā€™t find the Corryvreckan that sweet, has a little. Some pepper as well

Itā€™s prolly at least 8/9 years since I had an unpeated Islay, when I had a couple of bottles of Bruichladdich Rocks, which was a none age statement single malt drawn from multiple vintage casks. So probably similar to the current ā€œClassic Laddieā€ in execution.

I donā€™t have huge expectations of tā€™ Finlaggen, but the overall tenor of tā€™ reviews is pretty good overall. So it could be a nice surprise & its quite modestly priced after all.
