Watched my all-time favourite film last night
Pity the Hibiki is so expensive these days. The old 12-yr was lovely (and I still have the empty decanter style bottle) but not £70 worth the current Harmony expression is these days!

Personally I think it goes downhill after the first minute…
Meh, whiskey schmiskey. Scarlett otoh
I had a nice dram of the 17yo in a hotel in Norfolk so asked for a bottle for my birthday or Christmas.
IIRC it was expensive at ~£70 a bottle. Then suddenly it was £500. Just googled and it’s a grand.
Absolute nonsense.
Ordered last night, one I’ve been meaning to get in & try fer a good while.
Tasted this one recently, it’s brilliant.
Arran makes great malts nowadays, I find even the NAS Barrel Reserve as well as their standard 10yo very impressive.
Anyone tried this stuff?
Never tried it but I wasn’t impressed with the description expensive blend filled out with bs.
Lucky I’m extremely skint at the moment or I might have had a go.
Yeah, I was overlooking that. Just like trying peat is all.
Samped this on Saturday. Complex and flavoursome, interesting experience but deffo enough to persuade me I’m not into heavily peated whiskey’s. Woke up on Sunday morning wondering why I’d nosebagged an ashtray in my sleep!
Bunnahabhain is my comfort zone!
Not sure if other companies are doing similar initiatives but if anyone fancies a brewdog style punt, this is worth a look, either to drink or invest. I’ve met Richard “The Nose” Paterson, master blender, a couple of times and he’s a really nice guy. His tasting videos might be a bit ott for some but I guess there needs to be a certain level of flamboyance in that role.
The management involved reads like a dream team, they deffo know what they are doing. Might have to wait a good few years to get a dram or a buck though.
It’s all jam tomorrow though, isn’t it.
Too many references to “we aim to” for my liking.
I’m out.
I’m not getting involved myself as I don’t know enough it about it to balance up the actual risk v reward. Just thought it might be of interest to some of the aficionados on here. Only thing I can vouch for is the blender Richard, he’s a straight up guy, but he isn’t running the show.
A new one for my delectation later on this evening, a nice gift from my brother, Jonathon. Supposedly pretty nice, high ABV of 62%.
That’s interesting, I’ve never seen blended whiskies at that ABV.
(Mostly single malt or single grain.)
