Suggestions for a nice bottle along the lines of Ardbeg 10?
Johnnie Walker Green Label (15 year old blend) on offer at £30 on Amazon today. Hard to beat for the money.
Two bottles will be with me tomorrow.

My go-to around that £40 mark would be Bunnahabhain Toiteach a Dhà or the Caol Ila 12. Lagavulin 16 is sometimes available <£50 when on offer, would be good to look out for that.
I would like to try the Port Charlotte 10, I think its around £50, I’ve had the MRC:01 and OLC:01 expressions which are both excellent.

Probably what’s going to happen.
It’s my wife’s favourite. She used to complain that laphroaig was too sweet and not peaty enough.
I was thinking, since it’s something we both enjoy and we are drinking regularly but not too frequently, it would be worth spending a bit more and getting something special around the 100 mark.
Not worth it if she’d rather just have another Ardbeg 10.
Supernova would probably be ideal but that’s silly money now.
She likes Caol Isla as well, come to think of it. Maybe the 18?

The Caol Ila 18 is lovely but very refined compared to most Islay ‘Peaty’ malts.
Sounds like you need a tasting, or order a selection of taster pots.
It’s not my favourite and probably not the best, but it is unique. I’ve not tried another like it.
Over the years it’s probably also been my favourite, but I’ve always enjoyed a wider range of different styles than my wife

As said above, older/age brings refinement.
Ardbeg 10 is a class of it’s own.
Another interesting alternative might be younger Lagavulin, 8/10 yo, but haven’t tasted them.
And it’s not Ardbeg.
Or you try Uigeadail or Corryvrackan, since they have a higher ABV.
You can drink them pure or dilute according to your taste.
Uigeadail I’ve had a few times and enjoyed. I was eyeing up the Corryvrackan…have you tried it?
