I think that if you had to define an album that was entirely up my street, it would be Kronos Quartet with added synth and percussion, plus Laurie Anderson vocals exploring loss.

Low-Double Negative and Nils Frahm…slow burner but kept coming back.

May seem mainstream… but it’s stand out for me.

Album and gig of the year for me;
Jonathan Wilson - Rare Birds
Closely followed by second favourite album and gig;
Bahamas - Earthtones

Anna Calvi - Hunter

Twin Shadow- Caer

To be clear, I don’t think this is the best album of the year. It was however the one that carried the most weight as my life went a bit skeewiff and the one I kept returning to. As such, it’s my favourite.

I concur. She was superb live at Wembley back in October, too.
