I think that if you had to define an album that was entirely up my street, it would be Kronos Quartet with added synth and percussion, plus Laurie Anderson vocals exploring loss.

May seem mainstream… but it’s stand out for me.
Apart from some of the limited run, niche releases a pretty meh year.
Probably a tossup between these two:

Album and gig of the year for me;
Jonathan Wilson - Rare Birds
Closely followed by second favourite album and gig;
Bahamas - Earthtones
Twin Shadow- Caer
To be clear, I don’t think this is the best album of the year. It was however the one that carried the most weight as my life went a bit skeewiff and the one I kept returning to. As such, it’s my favourite.
