Amazfit GTR2 or 2e. Way more reliable than fitbits etc. I have an old Amazfit Bip Lite, which is great but the new ones look even better.
Edit: get the 2e, which is cheaper and has some useless functionality removed for better battery life. You should get a week out of a charge, maybe more (they say 2-3 weeks, but that will be a lie). I’ve had the “charge me every day” smart watch and it’s fucking shit. I also like sleep tracking, which you can’t do if it’s charging.
I thought my Garmin 6X Pro might be too expensive for his needs. It also has a lot of features & activities which I was unsure if he wanted.
Having said that, if price & size aren’t much of an issue it’s a great watch. I use it for cycling & walking. I use the heat maps when in the countryside and can’t find the paths, very useful for that!
I have tried Apple, Garmin and Withings smart watches.
The Withings are by far the best for the sort of info I want, similar to yours.
They have proper hands and the steps dial on the two I have had is where the second hand normally is so good for glancing. The battery lasts a month and it doesn’t have a touch screen - all big plusses for me.
I gave away my Apple and first Withings, I was going to give my Garmin to my eldest daughter but she much preferred the Withings so bought one and refused my freeby
I’ve got a Tic Watch pro for work. Survives site work, dunks in hot tub, runs Google apps for fitness, tracking walks etc, controls Spotify and stuff like that. WhatsApp, email, texts all display up nicely and I can use it to make calls and pat for things contactlessly. I like it. Got it new on eBay for £120 last November.
I’ve got a Fossil. Looks a bit like a proper watch but does enough basic stuff like steps and miles and links to the app on my iPhone. You can also link to iPhone to take pictures and mute music etc using the buttons.
