Pizza Express dough balls (30p whoops bargain in me last pre Crimbo pit stop at Asda)
Made my own garlic butter with chives & parsley as the ersatz shit they ship with the pack is an absolute crime!
We (the three women in my life, anyway) seem to have developed a tradition of having party food morsels for our Christmas Eve dinner.
This year I said why don’t we make our own rather than buying all that supermarket crap?
Go on then, came the reply.
So, sausage twists, cranberry brie and bacon parcels and home assembled cosy piglets - all ready for the oven.
now onto the chilli pork belly bites…..
Well that was rather good. Dinner at a neighbours place - so no pics, unfortunately.
Gravlax for starter followed by a 3 ‘game’ roast - Wood pigeon/Pheasant/Partridge (the pigeon was the best by a very long country mile) then a cheese board with 8 different cheeses (none of your supermarket stuff - all bought online from some insanely expensive deli) and finally pudding which was homemade vanilla Ice cream, fresh orange and chocolate titbits.
Several glasses of a very decent champagne, a few glasses of a superb red and a couple of industrial measures of a 12 year old Talisker single malt (cask strength)
All very acceptable.
You’ll sleep sound tonight, can’t beat a great meal with friends.
Summat simple for lunch today…
Salmon with plum chutney, cauliflower steak (sic), and cheesy roasties.
Very beige.
Lunch was
Foie gras
Followed by venison , shroom potatoes and a butternut soufflet in a forest berry sauce ( I had tucked in by then
Bergamot creme brulee
Most enjoyable and not much more than a service station maccies
Had fried battered cauliflower at a restaurant and it was surprisingly good so, inspired by this, I made cauliflower in a Korean fried chicken style
Loosely based on this Sweet and Spicy Korean Fried Chicken (Yangnyeom Chicken) - Chef Chris Cho
