Architecture

We were in Manchester at the Royal Northern College of Music yesterday and this staircase inside rather took my eye.

There are some incredible modernist houses in Palm Springs - I’d love to see them one day.

Wowser! Now that is impressive. How to invest serious money in serious style.

Incredible, Bond baddy house!

It seems that Elain Harwood

has died suddenly and unexpectedly.

The absolute authority on postwar architecture in this country, and a really engaging speaker.

I don’t know what to say really, but this is a massive blow to the study and protection of C20 architecture in the UK.

Speaking of Soviet Bus Stops.

I’ve just found this.

Received as a gift a couple of years ago, I think it must have been promptly buried under a pile of papers and computing equipment, which was only excavated yesterday

It’s full of bonkers concrete flying saucers, but this one

caught my eye in particular. Maybe used in the opening scene of Tenet?

I recognised Maarjamae which is near Tallinn later on in Tenet

but I think the opening scene was Linnahall nearer the centre of the city.

Google agrees with you. The one I posted is some sort of sports palace in Moscow.

However they’re both 1980. Soviet cookie-cutter for that era I guess.

Nightclubs were my life for 20+ years. Live to club. The thrill of being in a great one was amazing, it used to make my hairs stand on end.

Now, I prefer an early night.
