He was always up for a scrap though, all you had to do was yell ‘99’ and he would charge the length of the pitch to find someone to thump! :grinning:

Here is an article that explains Rocky’s career.
https://coxscorner.tripod.com/rocky.html

He fought a lot of fighters that were past their prime and old. Unlike old fighters today back then they had a lot of fights sometimes over a 100 which took its toll. Joe Louis (one of the truly great heavyweights) was 37 and way past his best.
Jersey Joe Walcott 39, Archie Moore a Light Heavy 40 plus, Ezzard Charles 30 plus.

And Randolph Turpin.

AJ & TF signed a two fight deal to unify heavyweight division

Stating the obvious… whoever folks favour having a British unified heavyweight champion of the world will be a fantastic thing…Its a Win Win

We’re certainly going to find out how well AJ can really box because like him or not TF is a very technically proficient fighter.

Would prefer AJ to win, but I don’t think he will.

Well done Taylor. Four belt Champion and in Ramirez’s own back yard. :fist_right::+1:

Hmmmmm… By no means a walk in the park for The Gypsy King later this evening

What an Extraordinary Boxing Match …

I thought he’d lost it at one point when he took that big shot. Wilder looked wrecked for quite a while though in the end.

Blimey.

Can’t see AJ going toe to toe with Fury and not getting knocked out.

I reckon AJ will lose his next fight and retire.

If Wilder can’t put Fury down, AJ won’t ! And like the big man said afterwards, you won’t beat him unless you do.

Andy Murray’s tweet asked the big question:

“Would you rather.
Fury vs usyk for undisputed and
Wilder vs Joshua with winner fighting winner of fury vs usyk or
Joshua vs usyk rematch and winner to fight fury?

(Loved Fury’s corner stool as well)

Not necessarily true though is it. A win on points is more likely than knocking the big lump out so AJ would need a game plan to suit (which he hasn’t got).

Problem is he seems more obsessed with lifting weights and Instagram than learning how to move and being hard to hit.

I’d give Usyk more chance than anyone else because of those attributes and skill.

Fury has said that no one will out box him. I suspect he is right.
So he claims that it’s easy to beat him: you have to “spark him out “.

It seems the best puncher right now can’t do that.
Sure, you could win on points, but how likely is that for a man who has demolished anyone who has gone the distance with him? It’s his own words, but I suspect he’s spot on.

When it comes to ‘heart’ Fury has it by the bucket. I suspect part of this x-factor comes from his roots. He is from a line of fighting men. It is his culture and is easily seen in the bare knuckle fights that gypsy’s have dominated for several decades. This stands in some contrast to plush gyms / Instagram and ‘image’. It’s very difficult to learn ‘heart’, it is so much more than resilience.
