Alan Johnson gave a very well considered view on a second referendum on This Week last night. It was the most sensible thing I’ve heard anybody with a political background say.

Whatever you say about the Blair years, he got a centrish agenda to work well, and achieved a lot. They were good at understanding what the spectrum of MPs wanted, and steering through to a compromise position that made sense. We now have two party leaders who cannot negotiate or compromise.

On Radio 4 at lunchtime they were interviewing people about the job losses at Toyota. One person when asked how he voted replied leave, he was then asked how he would vote in another referendum, now knowing that it would have severe implications on employment in the northeast. He said he would still vote leave because it would only cause problems for a few months, we would be able to trade with new countries around the world, and now we have started Brexit “we might as well give it a go”. God fucking help us
