Brexit in a nutshell

Love the front of Robert Buckland on Bercow’s ruling:

We are talking about hours to March 29. Frankly we could have done without this.

Feckin’ Bercow. Bastard cancelled MV1 in December and finally held it in January. He then delayed MV2 even longer the unprincipled twat. No wonder the solicitor general is annoyed. He would never condone or be associated with such poor behaviour. :unamused:

If the EU decides not to extend A50, it’ll leave May with the choice of No Deal or Revoking. I almost hope they do refuse. She wanted to play chicken with them. She may now have to for real. I think she’d blink.

Are they cynical enough to end the current session and start a new one, rendering Bercow’s decision redundant?

Solicitor General Robert Buckland -

…the Speaker “has been very clear” that in this session of Parliament, he would find it difficult to allow a motion that was the same.
“Well what’s the answer to that? Potentially ending the session and having a new one.”

They’d have to get it voted it through & there’s some doubt, given recent form, that they’d succeed. But they are certainly cynical enough to try.

The cynicism of the move would cause embolisms throughout the Parliament.

They don’t want the blame for hard Brexit. I reckon they’ll say yup to whatever she asks for. The trouble for her is that she will need to decide what she wants. I won’t be surprised if she’s not gone by the end of the week. She and her deal are toast unless they can prorogue Parliament and get Betty down to reopen it immediately. I suspect she’ll demur.

She’s known to not suffer political wrangling lightly.

I can easily see an extension with no participating in the EU election and the reason would be a GE.

The Government cannot control a majority when it comes to Brexit, a GEi is inevitable.

She could just go for no deal and then resign, but that would be a cuntery approach.

Silver lining - it might save us spaffing any more money up the DUP wall, for a while at least.

Kwasi Kwarteng vs Kate Hoey on BBC currently. Kwarteng putting the lard into dullard. Unfortunately Hoey is beyond dull…

Just catching up after dinner.

Fucking hell, Anna Soubry :joy:

Kwasi Kwarteng hopelessly out of his depth here.

I had to look that up.

Understatement of the day. Dropped into the deepest of deep ends without water wings or a rubber ring.
