‘Flavour is too expensive for our shareholders so here have some sugar in your beans instead’.

Gentlemen, this is a very rum turn - Any further knocking of Heinz baked beans gets the raffle fatwa. Bean faff however is welcome

Clearly no right thinking gentleman can consider defending sugary beans. Sweet beans are for children and the benefit of dentists across the land.

My brother used to mix Heinz salad cream and ketchup together when he was young, absolutely gopping.

Mixing sriracha with mayo on the other hand

I like sweet beans, what’s left of my teeth forgive them

Deserves its own thread :ok_hand:

Branston (ex Crosse & Blackwell) are the superior mainstream option. Reduced sugar, natch, the Scarlet Equid is right about A Thing.

I do like Bush’s too. Bill Foster knew a thing or two…

Sweet Shiva. Please tell me I’ve not been doing beans wrong too.

It’s karmically essential to accept that we are all of us utterly Rong™ about absolutely everything all of the time; it’s just a matter of perspective.

I’m with @Ruprecht on this one. Heinz all the way.

Toasted white bread, salted butter, Heinz beans, grated cheddar and a healthy sprinkling of white pepper. A true culinary delight.

(Couldn’t find a stock image with a white pepper sprinkling so this will have to do)

Philistine! Only the most freshly ground of freshly ground black pepper should ever be applied to the sacred baked bean. HP sauce would be an idea too.

Have to side our Caledonian chum on this one: white pepper is preferred in British cuisine, and, Worcestershire Sauce > HP anywhere that beans or cheese put-in an appearance :ok_hand:

Not a fan of baked beans, will eat them when presented but haven’t bought or cooked any at home for 20yrs now.

BBQ pit beans on the other hand are just amazing

Ironically, anything labelled “reduced sugar” is usually sweeter than the original because it’s pumped full of artificial sweetener :unamused:

Beans on toast requires Marmite on the toast.

No exceptions.

Nice try but the cheese should be under the beans ie beans on cheese on toast.

This is one reason why beans adore a good creosoting with some lovely vinegary Worcestershire Sauce :+1:
