Maybe get a 4k one for monitor use?
Can you get 4k in 32"?
Doesn’t have composite/SCART connectivity though so it would then need a convertor.
Not sure 4k would be entirely necessary on a 32"
do any modern TVs support this.
That will probably be really hard to find, on a modern tv.
Just get one of these type adapters.
Not for telly but for monitor use for MrsKettle it could be useful with detailed CAD.
Except it would be the other direction that was needed.
depends on the pixel density.
Wouldn’t a TV suffer from burn in if used as a monitor?
I’ve got a 32" viewsonic monitor for doing visio shite and it’s really good, it’s got 2x HDMI and a display port
ignore that suggestion - it is a monitor only…
what % use will be TV and what % computer monitor
About 75% monitor, 25% TV at the moment.
surely a monitor will be better? - you can connect your VM box (which one is it) to a monitor - or even a FireStick. If you find a monitor with speakers then audio shouldn’t be a problem.
You can probably connect most streaming kit to a monitor with an hdmi but make sure you have speakers available, most monitors won’t do audio out and many don’t have speakers. It was audio that made me buy a tv rather than a monitor.
I’d say go 4K for CAD - if you’re sat close, 32” HD has quite large pixels.
Yeah that was my point. I don’t know why Richer don’t have any 4k 32" TVs, when Currys have them for £300.
My experience of cheap converters between old and new connectors is that they’re shit. I don’t know if expensive ones work better.
This laptop I’m using at the moment has a 4k, HDR screen that’s 15.6 inches across. I assumed it would make little difference over 1080 at this size but I’m never going back. Looking at the older laptop is like Ceefax at this stage.
Even full HD 32" TVs aren’t that common, many are ‘HD ready’ (720p). Which is probably fine for watching Dave from 5+ foot away, but no use with a computer
Update: bought the Samsung from Currys, am currently doing Excel on a 4k monitor and my not very hidden inner accountant tech nerd is close to full nirvana fulfilment.
I’m hopefully going to get an LG C1 or C2 (depending on discounts) in the forthcoming Prime Day sale. In looking at size, I’ll be sat about 2m from the screen, so fairly close.
From this site, it seems like a 46" or 50" size is the way to go. Would the Hive Mind of this forum concur? Note I’ll mostly be using it for gaming, if that makes a difference.
Edit - have just seen that the LG sizes are 48" or 55" - so I guess I’d go for the 48" then, which is happily between the two sizes above. Do people agree that’d be the right one?
