Lafay’s attack was timed to perfection. Brilliant finish. Hope Cav can do it tomorrow, don’t really see it happening, the field is too strong, but you never can tell with Cav.

I think the problem for Cav is his team just don’t have the strength in depth to keep him near the front due to the blistering pace they ride at now.

The 2000’s massive lead out train seems to be a thing of the past now, only two or three riders tops. He’s a master of latching onto the best but will he still have the legs? We’ll find out soon enough.

I think he’ll do it if he manages to avoid any crashes.

They just need G - oh he’s not there :frowning:

Nice interview with Cav on Eurosport at the mo. Didn’t see the last stage of the Giro, had no idea he’d won and G had lead him out until they featured it. Anything’s possible!

Had a ride out with Ed Clancy yesterday (3x Olympic gold, team pursuit). He’s known Cav since they were teenagers. At 17 Cav was stating he was going to be ‘the greatest, the best sprinter ever’. Man with a plan

It was a great leadout as well !

Definitely a man with a plan - I really hope he gets a stage it would be amazing. Seen some great images of him enjoying the crowds on Saturday.

Ed Clancy get you :grinning:

Most interesting anecdote, he felt Steve Peters was even more important than Brailsford in the transformation of British cycle racing

Hope he paid :grinning:

How is the Canyon feeling now ?

I made the fatal mistake of having a nosey about the sales and clocked a beautiful Orro :sob:

Someone I know bought an Orro, very happy with it, they look great value

CFR continues to impress, Sunday was the first proper hilly ride. Wondered if I’d notice the extra weight, not at all. The stiffness seems to make up for that extra weight. Amazing they can combine stiff and comfortable. Guess that has to do with the wheels too

Sounds like it will be a great bike for you Dan :ok_hand:

What size tyres are on it as I’ve noticed a lot of the new aero type bikes come with 28’s now.

Was supposed to be 25 front 28 rear but delivered 28/28. Cont tubeless, not had Conti before, so far so good

Thought for a few seconds Cav was going to do it there. Fantastic effort but Philipsen was too good, also had a fantastic lead out team working with him. Best man won on the day.

Cav had a mechanical, apparently. Wouldn’t want to be his mechanic this evening.

Did he say what the issue was? There was nothing obvious while I was watching it.

“Once I kicked, I started, the gears jumped from the 11 to the 12, I had to sit down,” Cavendish told Eurosport.

“The cadence just whacks up. Then it goes back to the 11th, I tried to stand up. I needed to sit down. There was nothing you could do except, kind of hope.”

I was wondering why he sat down when he had just went in front.
Just watching the highlights and you can see him sit then look down at the drivetrain.

Thanks.

Yep looks like that is the case - so frustrating for Cav but there again Philipsen might have done it anyway, he is so fast.
