Got this deal through earlier. Arrived on time and at a very good price:
No local shops offer this service, so I went for it myself!

Ok, so I did a waxification… under the supervision of Lord Boots, I got my shit together and carried this out successfully.
Yes there’s some faff, however my bike lives indoors and I only go out in the dry!
I gave the drivetrain a good clean with eco-friendly degreaser and some microfibre shoelace like things.
By the time I’d worked out how to do this properly, the pot had heated up and melted the wax and strip chip.
I couldn’t be arsed dicking about with a new chain. The existing one is weeks old and not been used much.
There was no mess; no burns and only one nick where I slipped trying to put the new chain link in…
Y’missed a bit ![]()
Shiny!
A little six mile* ride to settle things in.
I broke off every link prior to refitting to bike. There was some initial stiffness and noise at first.
That went after a particularly vicious short climb.
Smooth as butter through all the gears.
Excess wax- on the outside of the links gone. Cleanliness speaks for itself:
*six miles more than I could do a couple of months back!
Looks perfect ![]()
Enjoy the rides!
Went out on longest ride so far. About 13 miles of quiet country lanes with some hills and shit.
This hill is steep as fuck on foot, let alone on two wheels! Managed the first half of it in lowest gear. Had to walk the second half…
Reached a shocking 28mph downhill the other day. Brakes give me confidence.
Anyhoo; weight saving bottle cages arrived yesterday. I needed a second cage and couldn’t cope with a miss-matched pair, innit:
Already a weight-weenie? Don’t forget to have a poo before every ride to save more weight.
He’ll be shaving his legs for better aero before you know it.
I got a computer thing. Not a woohah…
I like it because it is circular and small.
Not testing this properly until the roads are dry:
I’m an external examiner at a technical college and one of the carpentry students brought this for her end of year presentation. She made the ash frame herself and the workmanship was astonishing.
Interesting machine. How are the axles, bottom bracket and headset interfaced with the wood?
Glued metal inserts as far as I could tell
Standover height of 12mm = crushed gonads at some point
Not if you’re a girl ![]()
12.8 mile ride this evening. I did 7.5 miles and thought fuck it; I want more. Added a bit more to it to take advantage of the dry spell.
Average speed on part 1 was 11.8mph and part 2 was 10.1mph. Max speed was 25mph.
38 and 31 minutes respectively.
Most of this involved hills, so I am not unhappy with these figures. As it is, nothing hurts and its crazy that just over two months ago, I could barely achieve 1.5 miles before my legs gave up!
I am now considering a winter shitter so that I can keep on riding.
Really wasn’t expecting to enjoy this so much!
That’s great - congratulations ![]()
