You have now understood cycling ![]()
That looks bloody lovely! Total opposite of the contraption I posted about yesterday!
Is it Titanium?
Yes, a Van Nicholas Chinook frame that I built up around 11.or 12 years ago. Recently built the wheels too. Also have a Ti hardtail mountain bike and another Van Nicholas Ti frame (warranty replacement) in the garage.
Oh, and a full suspension mountain bike and a folding bike. You cannot have too many bikes.
Went on a solo 9.6mile ride on a different circuit this evening. Got bored with the old circuit.
More hills including:
I stopped twice but still rode up the fucker:
Nice one ![]()
As Greg Lemond said: ‘It doesn’t get easier, you just get faster’ ![]()
I turned a simple 2 mile return trip to a dinner party into a bit of a ride.
Longest ride yet on Sunday. Will be 25 miles. Fuck!
First ever group ride today. Also longest ride too. Almost 25 miles.
The group were brilliant. Supportive and patient. I was afraid of being ‘dropped’ but needn’t have worried.
There were some chunky fucking hills- particularly the climb up Fordcombe Hill- which I climbed up in bottom gear like an old Leyland Leopard.
I can see the attraction and am really looking forward to the next one. Have something of a post ride buzz. That is rather pleasant. Also no aches and pains.
Well done.
Congratulations! ![]()

Woah! About 75 miles in this heat! ![]()
From the occasional GCN videos I watch, looka like a lovely area to ride! ![]()
This route is becoming a bit of an annual pilgrimage - third year in a row
The longest ride I’ve done in an age and the best I’ve felt in an age as well.
Hard work on the way back as there was a pretty stiff headwind all the way. ![]()
The Falkirk Wheel is such an impressive bit of engineering - fascinating to watch it in action.
It was also nice to finally get the precious out for a spin at last as well.
Nice ride out with neighbour who has recently recommissioned his Peddle Iron- a Raleigh Clubman.
Both bike and rider haven’t been out for a while so it was a gentle- as it can be with hills here- 7.55 mile ride on a route suggested by another neighbour.
Good fun and I think he’ll be back on it way more often now.
On Sunday it looks like I’ll be on my longest ride yet with local group. For me, about 32 miles!
Had to modify my bottle. Horrible sticky marks were really fucking pissing me off. Bike is wiped down after every ride however the sticky marks triggered me.
Sorted with a bit of spare gear floss.

Longest ride yet, innit:
