She lives again!
Bought an impact wrench. Wish I had got one years ago.
Saves a lot of time and swearing.
One of the greatest tools I ever bought. Along with a set of ratchet spannerâs and a pressure bleeding kit
Edit: I do a lot of track days, so getting wheels
On and Off quickly is a must. Quite often swap tyres / corners throughout the day, as well as the odd emergency brake pad.
There was much swearing today.
Change the crankshaft seal easy enough.
Turns out the leak wasnât from there.
As the pulley was disintegrating it wore through a bit of the timing cover.
Big fucking job to do that. Wonât be towing caravan with that new weekend.
Silver linings and all that. (At least for other road users)
A few more pics from last weekend at the JEC 50th anniversary for the XJS and XJC at Glasgow Riverside Transport Museum.
And with her arse clipped
Iâm posting this here not so much for the crap old car but modern fucking crap replacement parts. It so very nearly never made it to the show because of this.
In 2021 I thought I was being smart and installed a 321 Electronic ignition system and then everything would be hassle free. In the last 4 years I have had 3 replacement dizzy caps. They are poor fitting and they keep cracking making it undriveable. the only reason I got to the show was a new dizzy cap that I have also cable tied into place. I have now ordered 2 more to always have one as a spare and at âŹ41 & âŹ35 delivery itâs a fucking rip off.
X.
We visited the museum weekend before. Worth a visit if you havenât been. The Glasgow record shop exhibit is nice and includes this quite attractive Murphy item.
I enjoyed that exhibit too but I cowardied away from telling Mrs X that I had about 50% of the records on display.
Yep I had a few although nothing like 50%.
I had very good experience with the 123dizzy on my previous Dolomite 1850. I remember that Harry from Harryâs garage has had issues with his 123dizzy on his XJC too, and possibly the Lambo Espada.
I suspect that it is too close to engine block and the heating and cooling is the culprit but this shouldâve been factored in. The original dizzy cap was in it for at least 30 years with no issues. Modern shecht.
X,
To be fair, mine was the original delco dizzy and cap adapted with the 123 gubbins, and significantly less heat/performance inside that mighty 91BHP* engine bayâŚ
