Reminds me when I did a car spraying course at Plymouth uni.

You could get your car valeted for £5 and a full respray for £50.

It went towards marks for the course and they would just charge for materials.

That being said, two of the young lads decided on a pub lunch followed by numerous joints. They were asked to spray a realitives of the teachers car.
They did it last thing, and the following morning produced much laughter as there were runs everywhere on it.
Teacher went nuts and they had to resand the whole car.

Thought I’d share what facilities are in the workshop along with the woodworking section and cnc above. There’s also another room with printing and painting stuff

Wow, very impressive and sooo clean!

I worked in several wood workshops in my yoof as a joiner and wood machinist. They were usually always knee-deep in sawdust. :joy:

Are those round discs suspended from the ceiling sound absorbers?

I wish I had access to all that equipment.
The HAAS machining centre is gorgeous. I’d get that going its exactly like I used to work in another life.
What a fab workshop I’m Jealous.

yeah I think I’ve been lucky in the places I’ve worked in so far are kept relatively clean. There was one place I would collect from that was just mounds of saw dust on the floor. I couldn’t work in the mess

I would say say, probably the quietest machines in that room though. The cnc room however bare echo chamber that you have to shut the door when in use and sit and watch the machine run. with wearing ear protection it’s still quite loud

Yeah the facilities are great. The way the space is run leaves a lot to be desired. I’m still technically not a member after emailing first week of January and speaking to the main guy on the phone. luckily i studied with one of the technicians and was a member before so he said i can just come in and use the space as I’ve got people waiting for jobs to be done.

I wish I knew how to use it! I’ve never seen it run here. I might try and draw something up and ask to use it and see what the response is. I doubt the technicians left here know how to run it. Since last year 3 members of staff have left as there’s just nothing going on in there.

It’s even got the same 3d printers as Adam and I have.
When I was there 25 years ago I don’t think much of that existed.

This is a potential DIY job nine large panel speakers from a large organ - Four sleeps away. I just couldn’t resist -
I will deal with how to get them to Norfolk if I win.

Supravox drivers arrived safe and sound through customs, hopefully make some progress on the single test cab with my less-than perfect plywood for some initial testing. Around 115 Litres still looks good, tuned to 45Hz to start with.
Spec looks good, closer to spec than my previous pair (with the old basket design). Not many new drivers around with a Qms ~20, 19g Mms and 100dB sensitivity!
I’ll do some test tone running in over the next couple of days and measure with the DATS.

I recon I could go up to 170 Litres max without being to unreasonable in the room but it does not go too much lower (37Hz Vs 45Hz -6dB point) and considering I already have quite a large 33Hz peak in this room anyway I’m not sure its needed.

In a spare couple of hours I started doing some testing of the Radian 475PBs and the BMS 4524 to look at the dispersion but getting inconsistent results compared to some previous tests so need to try and get some time outdoors to see whats really happening.
Both showing the expected roll off at the low end from around 1.5kHz, I believe the cut-off frequency of the Seos12 is 1200hz so makes sense. I know the 475PB can take a lower crossover so a larger 1" horn may well need to be investigated if required.

Continued to play with VituxCAD and making progress but all a bit pointless until I can get some clean outdoor measurements.

Looking good! Amazing to have such lovely facilities!

With what I (think I) learnt building the other panels these should be quick and easy
They will stack two high with the easiest brackets to become a 1640 x 610 wide panel with all tweeters set amidships. They should provide deeper bass than the other panels.
Plus with a bit of luck a better blast radius

So that the Pyle drivers can live up to their name?

Ha Very good

I have found the best policy is to fess up early rather than stealth them in.
That said I haven’t mentioned these yet -Timing is also a factor
