Of the original 240 drivers that I bought for £1.08 all in. Sixty have sold on ebay for £2.50 each. Claire has seen it happen so has a little more faith.
I have risked all my Kudos with her and today bought us a Volvo V60 d3 in the dark
(suitable for transporting speakers)
Gentlemen, behold: a legend in his own playtime ![]()
I need a step down for a Jap turntable, I’ve looked on eBay and there’s hundreds at a wide range of prices.
Is there anything I should look for or does it not matter so much? ![]()
Airlink are good
Thanks Chris ![]()
I’d second Airlink - good, and safe. Find the label on the TT that tells you what its power consumption is (or measure it if you have a plug-in meter), and buy a Tx with 50-100% headroom.
Yep, use Airlink for my TT.
No body ![]()
I’ve just noticed that the outlet on the tranny is 3 pin
the plug on the TT is 2 pin ![]()
Isn’t that just that things like turntables are made as no earth appliances (double insulated) . They are used on two pin outlets in living room, bedrooms etc.
Two pin sockets are common all over Europe and ?Japan?
Those rooms don’t have an earth.
Appliances you would use in the Kitchen tended to have earths (at least historically). Outlet sockets in the kitchen were/are earthed.
The transformer will be universal so could be used in the kitchen with 3 pin outlet socket or other rooms, 2 pin outlet sockets.
Ok, thanks.
Test cabinets - progress has been made.
Also impressed with Soundimports, the Peerless CD’s arrived next day. Guess they were under the import limit (£130?).
As my plywood is only good for garage shelving at this point, I have repurposed two old IKEA Kallax as sides and two new fronts of 18mm ply, gonna try the testing in open baffle first, then can add a back and midrance enclosure as required.
Quick and dirty but will get me up and running…
If the box is a bit resonating, 1.5 to 2mm sheet bitumen, applied on spray contact adhesive will change that.
Sheeting the whole inner surfaces wolf make it heavy / use a lot.
Decent size pieces in the right places..
What are you using to control the channels?
Yep, right now this is just to get me up and running for some measurements. I have a MiniDSP 2x4HD for 4-channels of DSP so I can only do 3-way mono right now, again, enough to get me started.
A few configuration options is the idea:
2-way
Supravox 285GMF 11.5" and Seos 12 with BMS 4524 or Peerless DFM-2535
2.5-way
Supravox 285GMF 11.5" and Supravox 165GMF and a Supertweeter (passive)
3-way
Supravox 285GMF 11.5" with Supravox 165GMF and Seos 12 with BMS 4524 or Peerless DFM-2535
Managed to get a quick test, cut short cos unwell toddler. Have another go next week!
The 165GMF driver certainly sounds better with the top panel off, as expected.
I’ve a set of little castors which I’ll install to make it easier to pull them away from the wall in use.

I knew they’d come in handy one day ![]()
Yeah they are the perfect size! ![]()
