What are you planning to use for the crossover?

After some experimentation and development, much foo.

all the foo

Good stuff. So all passive? How will you do time alignment? Measurement and physical alignment?

Learn as we go.

I only have to please one set of ears.

Hey ! i’m desperatly looking for the Altec 808 STL  can you send me an email at tanguychiron@gmail.com i really want to share about Horns. i have some designs to share as well ! have a great day

Sorry I got sent it by someone else so I can’t pass the file on

Nice Wayne! I’ve got an ongoing Altec Project on the back burner - I pulled a few of these from a local Theatre about 4 years ago and they’ve just sat there

All drivers need work / replacement :upside_down_face:

What sort of work do they need?

Hahah - All the work.

HF drivers have a sheared screw stuck in the thread (Pleased to say I did this when replacing the diaphragms) So that will need removing. The LF drivers have been replaced with some bullshit which means getting some replacement 411-8A’s - The crossover looks to be mostly there but will need sorting / re capping etc. The cabs are pretty chewed up. The 511-B horns seem OK (Will clean up) Whilst it’s nice to hanker after industrial / theatre sound, remembering these were working tools handled by a variety of ‘engineers’ on the fly to literally keep the show on the road.

…Anyone interested in crying / depression? Feel free to DM for truly harrowing Westrex / Western electric stories.

I think I’ve been lucky finding stuff thats fully working and fully original because as you say, the show must go on.

411’s are cheaper to get hold of than the 416/515 but still not cheap and will no doubt need surrounds as they were foam instead of cloth I think?

Yep foam

For up and running
