Don't laugh - economical turntable suggestions please

Quite. Remember to buy a rack also big enough for a reel tape deck and the software will then care of your pension fund.

I have very nostalgic memories of a friend’s father having the same setup, hence the interest in the modern versions.

If you’re considering buying one, then I didn’t really like the sound of “Bed Kingdom” selling a turntable rack, so I found it for £183 at Robert Dyas, who I have actually heard of.

Went back to buy it a few minutes ago and it had gone back up to £228.99

However another bash with Google shopping and Amazon (stocked and shipped from Amazon) have it for £159

Naturally my champagne socialist credentials went straight in the bin and I bought from Bezos.

To avoid trashing Mike’s thread any further

The deck here

was definitely a Pro-Ject. The guy said that it was a slightly older model and that the modern equivalent is £600, so Google suggests that it might be a Debut EVO.

Having said all that I didn’t buy anything of that ilk, instead taking @thebiglebowski’s advice and bought a Rega Planar 1 Plus in walnut

because it ticks all the boxes and I like how it looks. Should arrive later this week.

Next gizmo.

I recall having an anti-static record brush in the 80s.

Recommendations please? Or just Google it because they’re all much of a muchness?
