eBay stuff (Part 2)

John is retiring soon so you may need to be quick. A Decca Pro arm would be a nicer pairing for the SH4E

Fuck, I have an H4E I wanted him to look at. I’ll have to check, ta.

I also have the Pro arm :sunglasses:

I’ve sold a couple of Decca FFSS arms/cartridges recently & to my shame didn’t take the trouble to set them up and actually listen to them. Various reasons but mainly a lot of faff for something I didn’t intend to keep. But I’d like to hear one of these older units.

Take a long hard look in the mirror young man!

The base of the MKI’s is the issue here, there can be issues with warped records, the later carts have a different base profile. The other issue with these can be hum on certain TT’s too.

Here is Doreen making them

Decca Pro arm

Testing the Carts

Some early 1’s & 2’s

The last MKI I listened to was rebuilt, it had much of what you’d hope for in terms of dynamics / speed etc. That said the Decca sound is a punch in the face rather than a caress if this makes sense.

@Turningjapanese are these the same model as yours?

Muchly entertaining speakers, I would be very tempted if it wasn’t for the singing fridges in the front room

He certainly has K2s - not 100% on what variations there are with that model name though.

They’re my old ones, used to belong to a guitarist in his home studio. John Verity - Wikipedia

I traded them in for the Tone Scouts. I did make some new Nelson pass designed crossovers for them with a new post terminal plate but put the old one back in for the sale and kept the xovers. They do look a bit more battered and scratched than when I had them though.

They should have 2x sets of stands, the ones in the pic which are solid American black walnut and some HiFi Racks ones I had custom made.

Great speakers and price considering they normally go for around £5k this side of the pond.

PS the grill covers are a work of art
