I initially read that as mummy, but in all honesty it didn’t particularly interfere with the message of your post! Having read the review of the amp, in the pink fish thread, I agree with you in both interpretations. Would love to hear that, and such a gorgeous little bit of design!

I heard one at the Hi Fi Deluxe (?) offshoot of Munich a couple of years ago (?), driving Soundkaos Vox 3’s.

It was a bloody excellent little system.

Wow, gorgeous! Incredible workmanship on those speakers. It’s funny isn’t it - big systems, well put together, are obviously stunning in their sheer scale - but there’s also something so nice about a more diminutive system when it’s thoughtfully assembled.

Keen price, too.

Not ebay but AE pre-owned. Would love to hear this as I very much like thier amps that I have heard. Also like my Aesthetix this has 3 inputs as well.
Spendy though.

Nice. But Italy!

It’s fine, I’d have to move there if I bought them anyhow. Two birds…

That’s fine but I think he would probably prefer to buy them when he can still hear above 8kHz.

Why? Means he won’t be able the hear the Wife screaming.

Bargain if they go for less than £2.5k

The PX4s look pretty but are ā€˜untested’ (in high-value kit like this, why wouldn’t you test them ?).

The phase-splitter is primitive and the SP41 input valve isn’t very quiet. So the amps will tend to suffer from distortion and noise, and with no negative feedback neither of those will be corrected. When the only sources were shellac discs and AM wireless the distortion and noise wouldn’t have mattered much. But these days the new owner may well find he’s listening to the amps rather than the music.

This 'gram was launched in 1946, but the design is really a throwback to pre-war times. Within a year or two the Williamson amp and the Leak TL/12.1 would appear and hi-fi would be in a whole new world.

Entirely agree, however that will not bother Hong Kong or Japan Man who can barely move around their 2m X 2m apartment for vintage British audio gear.

Was thinking more along the lines of someone buying it for less than £2.5k spending £500 on parts to restore and then flogging to the far east for around £5k
