Gigs I'm going to. The Gyroscope diaries

I’m 50/50 on this - it shouldn’t need to be said (if you’re going to see an artist, you’re probably familiar with their style of music: quiet and calm/raucous/somewhere in-between). Nothing pisses me off more than not being able to hear someone I’ve paid to see due to some thundercunt up on bugle who thinks they’re the centre of the universe, banging on about what hipster joint they visited last week to hoover a line off the cistern of said establishment. Dan Antopolski, I’m looking at you, you cunt (Foals, Ally Pally)
Aaanyway: It does seem a bit precious to hand out flyers, but I’m with her on the “standing, filming with a phone while blocking everyone else’s view” and don’t get me started on the fucking giants we seem to be breeding, walking in just before the gig starts and standing directly in front of you when you’ve found a good spot

There was none in the Roundhouse.
But nevertheless a wonderful gig

Looking at Pete’s photos’s at least you weren’t in the high up seating area. Remember commenting to my partner when we were at a Goldfrapp gig that we wouldn’t want to be up there.

Did she do this?

No

The gig was in two halves.
There was a solo acoustic section which was on a small stage right in the middle of the Roundhouse, and we were very close to that which is how Pete got those pics, then a second section with the full band and lights etc on the main stage.
It was very well done, and a great performance, during the solo part of the gig you would not have known the second part was coming as athe main stage was used as a screen for some quite clever roving camera stuff

It’s not that Pete is the better photographer, he basically cheated

Yeah, he was standimg 2ft in front of me, which is probably why my ones of the solo section are out of focus :grinning:

Complications, despite the Electric being a mile down the road from me.

I’d love to do the Melkweg date TBH.

Get in :grinning: not everyone’s cup of tea but just got tickets for The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville . The first night of Americanafest , Americana Music Association presents Sounds Australia , I’m not that bothered who’s playing at the moment, we’re in !

Bit of a bucket list destination for me.

Americanafest is the cornerstone of a bucket list holiday, ranging from Chicago to Austin.

Finally getting to see them live

Sod it, YOLO and all that.

It’s unclear whether it will actually be Dave Lombardo on the Tubs of Terror.

Fine if it’s not, once in a lifetime opportunity if it is.

For good measure I’m going to this tomorrow night

I don’t know much about Shackleton. I have most of what Wacław Zimpel has recorded and seen him, umm, perform before. And it’s got to be more constructive than watching crappy Spooky Nazi movies.
