I have see Conan before, probably 10 years ago. I wasn’t impressed.
Final day at Hartlepool folk festival.
Lovely hour with Rowan Rheingans, started with The Yellow of the Flowers played with two plucked violins
then on to Robin Williamson’s October Song, borrowing from her dad’s version for banjo accompaniment
Miranda Sykes, Jim Causley and John Palmer starting their tour about the many achievements of Rev Sabine Baring-Gould - worth catching.
A good weekend, good music, nice people and a successful trial of the new car as an occasional camper.
Managed to get a vinyl copy at the gig
The Rheingans are great, sadly they cancelled at Sidmouth this year.
A pity, they are great. Rowan lives locally so I see her fairly frequently. They are on tour in November, so you might find a gig close to you.
A bit of blues in Penistone this Weds, Lil’ Jimmy Reed backed by Bob Hall and Hilary Blyth, first date of UK tour

Bah,
No Brighton.
Bands have to play Brighton, it is the rule!
(Mind you, no Bristol either which is also a surprise).
The free concerts have started again in the uni. This week- Visions of Albion
Snaffled a michael kiwanuka ticket for the London gig in march
Last time was the phoenix in Exeter and it was immense
Combined age somewhere near 240 but still playin’ dem blues real well. Lil’Jimmy Reid, Bob Hall and Hilary Blyth.
Wireless links allowed an excursion into the audience without trailing leads
Just fucking awesome!
Ah shit, I forgot about that! Wanted to go. I just haven’t been on it, keeping up with the Phoenix events. Last time I saw them there was superb. A while back now.
I bet that was superb
Very jealous of that one - I had no idea what work would be like when tickets were announced so didn’t get any, rather regretting that now.
I was expecting to see you there nick!!
Sorry but you missed a good one , really good buzzy atmosphere
