Looking forward to this

C and I saw him here in Didcot before lockdown and he was really very good indeed. Who knew one of the world’s best lap guitarists comes from Woking ?

We bought our first house together in Leamington - just round the corner from the gig venue in fact - when C was working there. It’ll be nostalgic to see the old place again.

His tour details are here

The location is convenient for the train, although I suspect the gig times may not be…

Last train to Oxford appears to leave at 23:00. I could get a bus home from there. Or I’ve got a nephew in Leam who might have sleeping bag space. Or my bro’s (Banbury) might be an option if his band doesn’t get the paid gig he’s hoping for that night. Or a teetotal mate from Wantage is considering going and if he does then he’s offered me a ride home.

Mr Micawber: Something will turn up.

possibly missing the irony in the venue name.

Very possibly. Although he is veggie too, which I think they are, no ? (Maybe even vegan ?)

Metallica, Sisters of Mercy, Flaming Lips, Ministry, QOTSA, all on the same day. Haha.

I’ll take Mastodon please.

And probably The Hives.

It’s a bit of a “chuck it all at the wall and see what happens” bill tho.

You would know.
He would have told you.

I’d go with sisters of Mercy, Cannibal Corpse, Mudvane, Machine Head and perhaps Cradle of Filth, meself.

Anyone get Cure tickets to BBC gig?
My friend hardly misses any tour date world wide and didn’t get one. He is going to try on the door…

Can’t help thinking that the Flaming Lips were booked on name rather than style. Tweeness doesn’t really sit with the other rawk.

Oh, and Lacuna Coil have dropped down the listing a bit…

I’m supposed to be going to Desertfest Antwerp on Friday, but a) Airbnb lady seems to have ghosted me, and b) the headliners for Sunday (Monster Magnet) just pulled out this morning.

You really have to feel for the organisers. How do you find a headliner at something like three days notice? The comments section on Insta seem to be pushing for Amenra or Electric Wizard

Meanwhile the two bands I’d like to see on Friday (Russian Circles and Raging Speedhorn) are on at 23:00 and 00:15 respectively, and I’m really, really feeling my age this year.

Perhaps at your age DessertFest would be more realistic?

That’s a bugger though with MM pulling out so late.

Made it in, despite having been bushwhacked by a Norn Irish friend who wanted many beers. Apparently we’re having beers tomorrow lunchtime too.

You don’t. You shove local boys Gnome in earlier

and move the rest of the bill up.

Red hat ultras gonna be out in force. This super works for me.

OK

It’s all very Belgian. The band wear pointy red gnome / Belgian peasant hats, and so do the crowd.

There are complaints on Insta that if they’d known that Gnome were playing again this year they’d have brought their red hat

They’re singing in English about a Bohemian (Czech) prince, so maybe not so Belgian?
