Gigs I'm going to. The Gyroscope diaries

The song after that on the album is “Kraken Wanker”.

Maybe best not to take the subject matter too literally.

Shared history though:

Those Gnomes should have stayed in their flying teapots where they were safe,

Quests? Ogres? Hags?

Whatever next?

 I’ve been doing this a long time and that’s a first.

T+5 minutes sheepish organisers come out.

Sorry guys, we have a message and it’s not the one you want. The Gnome cannot play.

Silence.

30 minutes ago the wife of one of the guys got rushed to hospital for the unexpected birth of their baby and he’s gone with her.

HUGE ROAR

This event is about music, but it’s also about family.

HUGE ROAR

The only thing we can think of is free beer across the entire venue for 30 minutes.

ROAR TO BRING DOWN THE GATES OF HEAVEN

Free beer, the most positive vibes and I already have tickets to see them in Camden next May.

No free beer in Camden :rage::cry:

Any details of who / what this entails?

If it’s Spencer Cousins, Aren Ahmoon and Dan Thompson together again I’ll definitely go.

The John Martyn project comprises Blythe Pepino (former lead singer of Vault, latterly of Mesadorm), virtuoso guitarist Kit Hawes, singer and multi-instrumentalist Pete Josef, the seductive and distinctive vocal talents of alt-folk rising star Sam Brookes and an engaging and creative rhythm section comprised of John Blakeley & Jon Short.

There are several videos linked on the website.

Tribute band

I give you … the bogs at the George Tavern, Shadwell (E6 I think).

Impressively nasty.

Set up the sub thread

This was for a Benefits gig.

Gave up and went home after about 20 minutes.

If I wanted nothing but constant strobes in my face I’d have gone to Guantanamo Bay.

I appreciate that I probably react to stimuli a bit differently to many people but I’m definitely not on my own. What a dick move.

Reminds me of a Gnod gig I went to a few years ago. The support band, I forget who, insisted on all stage lighting to be off save for a single strobe. I went outside and waited for Gnod.

A lovely evening with Katie Spencer. This guitar, Fay, by Tom Sands, has back and sides of 5000 year old bog oak, and top of 2000 year old Carolina river cypress. Sounds superb, and the tone suits Katie’s voice very well.

(I’ll just have to set up at Barnsley real early tomorrow…)
