Gigs I'm going to. The Gyroscope diaries

It was very good, I had the opposite it’s quite long and I struggle with sitting down for that long!
The kids really enjoyed particularly the lad. The singing in it was really powerful. I deliberately haven’t watched the movie so didn’t realise it was set in devon

Yes,Yelverton was busy at the time with film crews and vans by the shops. I’ve not seen the film,so don’t know how much of it was filmed near here,or elsewhere in Devon

It is an enormoshed. I think the capacity is 11,000 and it was very full.

So, about the same as Ally Pally then.

Thanks, that helps to visualise it (previously I was thinking Wembley-alike).

Haha, and I open Insta and John Robb has handily sent me a photo

Around Burrator & Ditsworthy Warren House. You can walk to the house quite easily from the carpark

Sheku & Isata Kanneh-Mason, Boiler Shop Newcastle.
Strange Gig… Excellent view from the accessible area, nice beer at reasonable prices (£6.90/pint) which isn’t bad for proper craft beer at a gig, impeccable musicianship… Really obscure “set list” when I was expecting the advertised Cello/Piano greats … Maybe I’m a fool but I was at least expecting to recognise something they played? :man_shrugging:t2:
Overall an enjoyable evening but not what I expected, and in an environment that is perhaps more suited to bands rather than a classical duo…
Wierd evening!

Martin Simpson again (3rd time in 10 days due to diary forgetfulness). A good night anyhow.

… and one for the south west posse

I quite fancied seeing the Phil Lynott Enigma stage show which is doing 3 nights in Dublin next year so tickets bought and a nice excuse for a trip over the water. Not sure if there are any plans for this to come to the UK or not.

Did you end up going to see The Orb the other night?

Nup, I bailed, watched a film instead.

I think I’ve seen him / them three times this year (albeit in a different type of venue) so I’m cool with it.

Coincidentally a friend sent me a picture of his favourite poster this morning

From 1992 that’s quite some credibility. He was a bit of a face in New Beat so I guess it would have been mandatory at the time.

Cat Power, I think reprising her Albert Hall Dylan set, but at the Barbican. Next June.

This also torpedoes the usual Ascension day in Munich.

I’ve done the same things every year for quite a while but it looks like it will be all change in 2025.

I enjoyed that a lot, you should have a good night.

Actual words to the wife “Kevin and Pete went to that. It sounded really good”.

Did she copy the exact set list? Acoustic set first followed by the electric stuff.

Yes she did.
She relied on the audience for the ‘Judas’ intervention, :grinning:
