Gigs I'm going to. The Gyroscope diaries

Not one that I’m going to, but you southcoasters (eastern division) might like this. Good fingerstyle / blues guitarist. Oh, and it’s free.

Tonight was Adam Summerhayes and Murray Grainger, first as Ciderhouse Rebellion and then gypsy jazz duo Vagabond. Excellent evening.

I had half a mind to go to the London gig but that part of the year is likely to be cluttered and £41.20 for the Underworld…

Am I being stupid? Cheap? I dunno.

I did baulk a bit at the price but I’ve not so far been to a less than excellent Voivod performance. It’s not my favourite venue either - a boat in Bristol harbour that was once owned by Vivian Stanshall. Unsurprisingly, the hull of a steel ship is a bit boomy!

Fascinating bloke though.

In fairness to the Underworld it’s a good metal venue with a purpose built pit. OTOH it’s still in a basement in Camden.

Suspect it’s over 30 years since I went into Underworld but I do frequently see tour buses parked out the back on the way into work. First thing comes to mind is the likely smell of stale drink, body oder and sweaty trainer feet. Something I can still imagine having lived in hostels and shared houses in the 80’s.

I was in the Lamb and Flag in Covent garden with @TMC last week.

I was reminded of being in there shortly after the smoking ban came in and the 100 year old rotting toilets were finally centre stage :grimacing:

WTF? Liège?

My overriding memory of Liege is of a muddy pitched battle in Seraing. It was supposed to be a game of rugby but the locals just wanted to beat up les Bruxellois.

My guess is that they’re aping Wacken, right on the border. Liège is next door to Maastricht.

A lovely morning listening to this in St Leonards:

La Traviata live stream from ROH to Pontio in Bangor. Third act lost sound and vision (satellite glitch) for a couple of mins, for which I hold E. Musk personally responsible. Still enough left for a good blub at the ens.

Full teucthtar mode engaged. Skerryvore at Celtic connections.
