I went to bed once Rory had finished his round. That was astonishing, one off the course record (although the course is probably harder now than it was then). Great to watch.
The course changes have been made because of equipment changes.
Players hit the ball further these days but the course is not really harder.
Faldo famously hit a 2 iron 215 yds into the 13th in 1996.
Todays players would be hitting 5 iron.
It is much harder to hit a 2 iron so Faldo’s shot was technically more difficult (which is why it is still talked about today).
Don’t for one minute think that the old records were made because the course was easier. Great players are great players from any era.

Quite spoilt this week.
Played Crowborough Beacon ranked 5th in Sussex and 91st in England on Wednesday and am playing Mannings Heath ranked 7th in Sussex on Friday followed by a comp at my home club Seaford ranked 8th in Sussex on Saturday.

You can drive a bus sideways through there, whats the problem?

Played East Sussex National (West Course) yesterday.
134 Slope rating off the blue tees
Wonderful condition, very tricky greens, and saw an almost white albino deer which makes sense of the White Hart pubs you see around the country!
