Can someone explain the appeal of Bruce Springsteen as I have tried but just can not get it
Can’t help you there. He’s somewhat over rated.
I used to be the same and when I think why it’s because when I was a teen I really didn’t like the big brash singles like Born In The USA and Born To Run (to an extent)
But recently, I have come to really enjoy him. Darkness on The Edge of Town, The River, Nebraska and Tunnel of Love are very fine works.

I just explained that 35 years ago my exposure to Bruce Springsteen was pretty much two songs.

Hi, I’m Terry and in 50 years of listening to music my tastes haven’t changed and also I listened to 2 songs from an artist and that decided me about their entire discography.

Too easy.
Exactly the same, put off by the radio play singles, with the exception of ‘Dancing in the dark’ which was a bit of guilty pleasure.
Friends kept banging on about him but apart from appreciating the whole working class Murrican thing he does, I never really got it.
Also recently played ‘Darkness at the edge of town’ and ‘The River’ and yep, get it now for the first time.

I felt this way about school. It turns out education came in handy and changed my tastes and interests for the better.

Thanks for the suggestions I have tried listening to lots of Bruce as a friend of mine is a huge fan but just still do not get the hype at all . I respect him as song writer and often like when others perform his songs (Fire by the Pointer Sisters is one of my top twenty ever songs) just when he does nothing . Will give it another go with the albums listed and see .
