Holidays

How is it to drive along that bit of coast? We may have most of a day spare when we’re there in June & it’s a drive I’d like to try.

Not for the faint hearted I’d imagine.

We took a local bus to Amalfi from Sorrento and it was quite an experience especially when the driver stopped at the top of a sheer drop to have a chat with his mate driving the bus heading back to Sorrento :grinning:

@murrayjohnson I wouldn’t consider it. Almost everything on 4 wheels is dented or scraped. Hardly anyone drives anything expensive or physically big. The roads along the coast are narrow. Great views though but very few places to stop and enjoy them. Better to hire a scooter and put your life in the hands of the gods

It’s on the bucket list of roads for the Landy once retired.

Recently spent a week in Spain, in Zahara between Tarifa and Cadiz. Flights to Gibraltar were great as always, such a nice and relaxed way to go, and travelling BA with a baby was a dream (for her first flight), staff were great and the extra luggage allocation was essential. The MG ZS hire care was dire to drive but acceptable for what we needed, even if it was stuffed with luggage!

The town is known for its Tuna fishing, having been fished here for centuries, and that week happened to be the annual ‘Tuna Route’ festival, where 40+ resturants all sell their own unique single tuna tapas in a competition against each other. 4Euros for the tapas or 5Euros with a drink (200ml of beer or wine), and get around as many as you can, was a great night out!

Spent most of the week by the ‘refreshing’ swimming pool or the beach.

Not many digital snaps as I was shooting 35mm film for the week but a few standard sunsets, mostly towards Trafalgar lighthouse across the bay along with some Tuna fishing boats too!

Friendly neighbours.

We are in St. pazanne for a twinning trip. French couple stopped with us last year. So we are here this year.

It is okay. Most of the others are a bit old. Had plenty of cheese and wine. Safari park thing this afternoon. Saw lions and tigers and bears.
Day trip out tomorrow.

Krakow with a mate on Friday. Be nice that.

We went 11 years ago and loved it. I fear tourists have now, to a degree, spoiled it. Like most places!

We were there two weeks before UK went into its first Lockdown.
It was obviously touristy in parts but the back streets and lanes were fine. Auschwitz we had to ourself.

Just avoid Thursday evening until Sunday morning when all the Hens and Stags turn the place into a vomitorium.

Got the tour of Auschwitz booked as wel as the salt mine. Then will do some other stuff that we will make up as we go along.
Got a two bed apartment in the centre.

Could you fit the bucket in your luggage?

No meed. Barry Poppinfresh Esq is nothing if not resourceful, the caretaker’s cabin is well within reach, and the pool is within staggering distance.

A born survivor and a slave to the Efes.

Apparently there is an Efes “summer brew” which is a crisp I.P.A. type of thing.

Full tasting notes will follow in due course.

Spatchcock 2. Peggy Returns. “This time she’s not alone”.

It might be worth bringimg some vodka back.
Zubrowka bison grass vodka is nice on the rocks with apple juice. Try Halzelnut flavoured vodka with milk.

I’d recommend using the caretaker’s hut.
Use of the pool could give rise to a call of “Is there a plumber in the house?”.
